The Phillies enter on a seven-game winning streak, with a top-five OBP and Zack Wheeler on the mound. Wheeler’s 2.67 ERA and elite 0.89 WHIP make him an apparent mismatch against an iffy A’s lineup. Philly’s bats, anchored by Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner, should take advantage of Jeffrey Springs and a shaky Oakland bullpen. With the MLB betting odds likely juiced on the moneyline, laying the run and a half is the smartest of my MLB picks today.

Over/Under Pick: Over 9.5 Runs

Philly can easily carry this total independently with its top-ranked contact hitting and power. But Oakland’s sneaky pop (1.26 HR/game) means they could contribute a few runs even against Wheeler. This feels like a 7-3 or 8-4 type win. Both teams slug, neither bullpen is elite, and with the Athletics ranking near the bottom in opponent ERA, this game screams offense. It’s one of the stronger MLB prop bets today.
