Pick Brewers, Burnes vs Diamondbacks in Game 1, Oct. 3
Teams with different postseason experience will compete in a Wild Card matchup when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Arizona Diamondbacks in a best-of-three series beginning on Tuesday. Despite Arizona dropping its final four games, it returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 with a Wild Card spot. Milwaukee, meanwhile, returns to the postseason for the fifth time in six years.
Both teams will be trying to make it an extended stay in the playoffs, but MLB betting odds favor the Brewers in the series.

Diamondbacks Fall Into Playoffs
Arizona snuck its way into the playoffs despite a four-game losing skid after Cincinnati fell to St. Louis over the weekend.
The Diamondbacks’ offense has struggled down the stretch and was a key reason in their losses, averaging 1.2 runs a game in their final five games and getting shut out once in that time.
In its final three-game series with the Astros, Arizona struck out a total 18 times and went a combined 1-for-20 with runners in scoring position to leave 24 on base.
The Diamondbacks had a bit more offensive output in their series with Milwaukee, averaging five runs in six games, and they’ll need more of that to be a solid MLB picks against the Brewers.
Burnes Stays Consistent
Starter Corbin Burnes will look to get Milwaukee off to a solid start when he takes the mound in the series opener after finishing the regular season strong.
Burnes was solid through the month of September, finishing with a 1-1 record and 2.51 ERA while allowing zero runs in three of his starts as well.

In his final two games in the regular season, Burnes had 10 strikeouts and allowed seven hits over nine scoreless innings, though he gave up seven earned runs and a home run in five innings in his last game against Arizona.
Burnes will hope to carry his strong recent play into the postseason, but bettors may want to see how he starts and take advantage of MLB live betting odds after how he performed in his last game against the Diamondbacks.
Starting Pitchers
Brandon Pfaadt (3-9, 5.72 ERA) vs. Corbin Burnes (10-8, 3.39)
Brandon Pfaadt’s play was a bit inconsistent to finish the season. Though he recorded two scoreless games in September, both were preceded by games in which he gave up multiple runs and home runs. He finished September with a 2-2 record and 4.32 ERA while he recorded a 5.04 ERA and 1-4 record on the road.
Burnes was more solid through the end of the season, allowing four earned runs and one home run in 14 ⅔ innings andover the final three games of the season. He was a bit more inconsistent against Arizona, however, giving up seven earned runs in one game while throwing a scoreless eight innings in another.
Diamondbacks vs Brewers Betting Lines
Diamondbacks vs Brewers Best Bet
The Brewers finished the regular season by winning four of their last five games and clinching the NL Central, and with momentum on their side, taking them in the series opener may be one of the MLB best bets.
Arizona’s offense struggled through the end of the season, resulting in the Diamondbacks falling in their final four games. With Burnes’ recent play, Arizona may have issues in the series opener as well.
Though the Diamondbacks’ pitching finished out the season well, aside from their regular-series finale, Pfaadt has been hard to pin down and appears to have the potential to give up a multi-home run game at any point.
Though Arizona won the regular-season series 4-2, Milwaukee should begin the playoffs with a win.
