Prop Bet a Hit in Yankees vs Red Sox Game 2

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox’s MLB odds to make the playoffs are pretty much gone as we near the end of the 2023 season. Both teams are at the bottom of the American League East.

However, due to the historic rivalry between the teams, this series will always have some intensity around it. That still makes betting on Yankees vs Red Sox best prop bets on September 12 an option.

With a storm in the Northeast postponing Game 1 on Monday, the Yankees and Red Sox will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, affecting MLB lines. We focus on Game 2 for Tuesday’s MLB props.

Starting Pitchers (Game 2)

Carlos Rodon (2-5, 6.60 ERA) vs Kutter Crawford (6-7, 4.36 ERA)

The struggles for Carlos Rodon continued in his last outing for the Yankees. He only make it through 3.2 innings, giving up eight hits that led to seven runs, with only a single homer. Nothing has gone right for Rodon this season, from injuries to poor pitching. Furthermore, he has given up at least one homer in his 10 starts. That opens the door for a Red Sox batter to likely clip him for MLB props.

Kutter Crawford has been far from the best pitcher, either. In his last two starts, he has combined for 6.1 innings, allowing 11 runs and 10 hits, but only one homer. It was the first two back-to-back outings this season in which he allowed over four runs.

Red Sox Hits Prop Bet

The Red Sox lineup has not been the best in the league, leading to their current record, but they have found success getting hits. They have the third-highest batting average in the league, and though they have struggled recently, the Red Sox out-hitting the Yankees could be a best MLB prop bet on September 12.

Having Rodon on the mound is going to lead to a lot of opportunities for Boston’s lineup. Mainly left-handed hitter Rafael Devers, who hits lefty pitching pretty well with a .271 batting average. He always gives Yankee pitchers a tough time and could be in for a big day. Furthermore, Masataka Yoshida has been a solid contact bat for the Red Sox all season.

What makes this bet an even better option for MLB picks is that the Yankees lineup has struggled recently. Through the last 15 days, the Red Sox lineup has a batting average of only .244, but the Yankees have been even worse .191.

Yankees Still Searching For Offense

The Yankees had a quick glimpse of hope for an improved offense when Jasson Dominguez joined the team. He quickly became one of the hottest bats in the lineup, hitting four homers with seven runs batted in through eight games.

However, the offense will struggle with Dominguez now out with a UCL tear, requiring Tommy John surgery. It had trouble even with him in the lineup, only mustering two runs in each of the first two games of the last series against the Milwaukee Brewers. In the series finale, the Yankees were no-hit into extra innings but found a way to score four runs to win.

With how bad the Yankees’ lineup has been, it is hard for MLB betting to get behind them.

Yankees vs Red Sox Best Bets

With the Red Sox likely to win the hitting matchup, they seem on a clear path to winning the second game of this doubleheader. Crawford has struggled in his last two games on the mound, but given how he looked the rest of the season, facing an inept Yankee lineup could get him back on track.

Best Bet: Boston Red Sox (Game 2) -119
