Astros Cool Off Rangers
MLB betting is heating up throughout the league, and it’s another loaded weekend full of games. The Houston Astros host the Texas Rangers on Friday night, and they are looking for a second straight win in this series.
Texas has a four-game winning streak snapped in the series opener and fell to 17-20. The Rangers were expected to be a playoff contender this MLB season and were on a roll prior to their arrival in Houston.
The Astros are right back on top of the American League West at 25-14. The Astros have gone 10-4 at home and that has helped boost their record.
The MLB lines for this game have the Houston Astros as the moneyline betting favorites at -170 over the Texas Rangers.
Pitching Sinking Rangers
The Texas Rangers have started to turn things around at the plate over the last few weeks, but the pitching staff has continued to be an issue. Texas comes into this game with a team ERA of 4.14, and they allowed five runs in the loss on Thursday night.
Martin Perez is set to make the start on Friday, and the veteran has been one of the better pitchers on the team. Perez is 2-2 with a 2.01 ERA, but it will take a great effort to slow down the Astros.
Corey Seager has led the offensive charge of late for the Rangers as he has belted eight home runs and sports a .245 batting average. There are still some holes in this lineup, but Texas does have a team slugging percentage of .355.
Astros Taking Off on Offense
The Houston Astros have seen some key players go in different directions in recent years, but it hasn’t had a major impact on the overall offense. Houston sports a .231 batting average, but has belted 56 home runs.
Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker have really stepped up to lead this team, and they have provided plenty of power. Alvarez has belted 12 home runs, and Tucker leads the way with 26 RBIs.
The Astros got a solid pitching performance from Framber Valdez in the series opener and the team has a team ERA of 2.96. Manager Dusty Baker said of the performance from Valdez, “He was very good, and he dialed it up when he had to. He was probably throwing harder in that seventh inning than he was any other time in the game.”
Rangers vs Astros Head-to-Head
Houston has dominated this season series over Texas, and that includes taking four of the first five games this season. Looking at the latest scores and odds is a great way to help make MLB picks, and the recent trend shows how dominant the Astros have been.
The last time that Texas was able to win a season series over the Houston Astros was in 2016.

Rangers vs Astros Prediction
Texas is playing much better than when the two teams met earlier in the season, but Houston still won the series opener on Thursday night. The Rangers just haven’t been able to pitch the ball well enough to slow down a terrific Houston lineup.
The starting pitching matchup on Friday night looks to be pretty even, but the teams are not equals when it comes to the offensive lineups. Houston will once again break out the bats in a big way on Friday night to beat the Rangers in Game 2 of the series.
