Cubs Try To Continue Streak
The Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs will meet in their second matchup of a three-game series on Saturday.
The Rangers ended their series against Baltimore with a win, but went back to the beginning against Chicago as their offense struggled. The Cubs, meanwhile, split a two-game series with the Reds and will try to make it a three-game win streak after opening the series against Texas with a win.
According to MLB odds, the over/under is set at seven with the MLB spread placing Chicago as a 1.5-run favorite.
Rangers Search for Offense
Although Texas had a strong day on the pitching mound, its offense was lacking in its 2-0 loss to Chicago.
The Rangers’ pitchers held the Cubs to two runs on six hits, but it wasn’t enough as the team couldn’t get its bats going.
After its offense struggled in the majority of its series against the Orioles, scoring seven runs through three games, Texas presented the same problems in the Chicago loss.
The Rangers had three hits and struck out 11 times to finish scoreless and with a .103 team batting average against the Cubs.
Josh Jung was the leader in the Rangers’ last win with a two-run home run, and they’ll need him or someone else to step up for the offense.
Cubs’ Pitchers Step Up
Chicago’s pitchers threw their second shutout to help the team pick up the game-one win over Texas.
The Cubs allowed 12 runs in their two games against Cincinnati, but their pitchers got back on track against a struggling Rangers offense.
Starter Marcus Stroman was big in the win, striking out six and allowing two hits to record six scoreless innings.

Justin Steele starts his second game Saturday in hopes of having a similar performance as his first start. Against Milwaukee, Steele pitched eight strikeouts and allowed three hits in six scoreless innings.
