If you are looking to bet on MLB, then you are going to have a full slate of options on Friday night. The Texas Rangers travel to New York in one of those games, and everything seems to favor the home team.
Texas owns an overall record of 36-38, and the Rangers have actually worked hard to get there. The Rangers are trying to make a run at the playoffs in the American League, but a rough start is making things harder.
New York is 47-29 and has emerged as one of the top teams in baseball. The Mets did just get swept at home by the Houston Astros to extend their losing streak to three, and they will be looking to bounce back.
The MLB lines for this game have the New York Mets as the moneyline betting favorites.
When looking at the overall season statistics for the Texas Rangers, it’s hard to believe that this team is under the .500 mark. Texas has a team ERA of just 3.90 and has also belted 93 homers.
Corey Seager is starting to deliver and Adolis Garcia is turning into a superstar. Seager is now up to 15 home runs while Garcia also has 15 bombs to go along with a team-high 49 RBIs.
Glenn Otto is set to make this start, and he is just 4-3 with a 5.31 ERA. Texas could still use some more dominant pitching, but the offense has been more than good enough to win most games of late.
Mets Must Do Some Hitting
The New York Mets have currently lost three straight games and they have scored a total of just three runs during that span. New York is searching a bit on the offensive side of things, leaving manager Buck Showalter to simply say, “Their guy pitched well,” after a recent loss.
The Mets have been dealing with a ton of injuries to their offensive stars. Pete Alonso leads the team with 22 home runs and 69 RBIs, and he is a legitimate MVP candidate in the National League.
Chris Bassitt was expected to start the series opener for New York, but he was placed on the injured list on Friday afternoon. He will be replaced by left-hander David Peterson, who is 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA in 11 appearances (nine starts).
Rangers vs Mets Head-to-Head
These teams last met up during the 2017 season, and New York is 10-6 against Texas all-time.
Texas has been able to turn things around a bit after a miserable start, but the Rangers still aren’t even close to being on the level as the Mets. The starting pitching matchup favored the Mets until Bassitt went on IL.
Don’t expect a ton of offense in this game. At some point, the Mets will put together a big inning to take control of the series opener.
