Texas Travel West to Tampa Bay

AL West Meets the AL East

We are officially over halfway through the month of September, which means only one thing: October baseball is near. Unfortunately, that really only matters for one of these teams, as we begin a three-game series between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays tonight.

Everybody loves Fridays, and everybody loves baseball, so let’s bet on MLB and have some fun. After an intense five-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay has to be thrilled to see a team below .500.

The Texas Rangers may be one of baseball’s least talked about teams. They are in third place in the top-heavy AL West with a record of 62-81. On the other hand, Tampa Bay is certainly in the mix for some postseason fun.

With a record of 80-63, they are in third place in the best division in baseball behind the Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The Rays currently hold a 4.5-game lead for the third Wild Card spot, but their eyes are on the AL East crown.

Let’s check the latest  MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and  MLB odds for Rangers vs Rays. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions for you to consider.

Rangers Ready to Fire

The Texas Rangers will be the underdogs tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays, but they are used to it. They have been counted out all season and look to turn some heads and potentially play spoiler against the Rays.

One of the shining stars for the Rangers has been Martin Perez, who will be starting tonight. Perez is 11-6 this season with a 2.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 156 strikeouts through 172.0 IP.

After a rough August, the 31-year-old has excelled in September. Perez has a 1.50 ERA in his two starts this month and looks to stay hot.

Texas has an above-average offense, but their pitching has struggled, especially out of the pen. The Rangers are best when Perez is on the mound, so keep that in mind for your MLB picks & parlays.

Covering the spread is a lot easier as the underdog, and the Rangers have done phenomenally at just that. They are 79-64 against the spread in 2022, a very impressive 46-26 on the road and 53-38 at night.

Rays Fresh Off History

History was made yesterday for the Tampa Bay Rays. You cannot help but marvel at this, as the Rays became the first MLB team to ever start nine Latin American players. They walked away with a huge 11-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays to stay in the AL East race.

Corey Kluber will take the hill for the Rays, known for their impressive rotation. All eyes will be on Kluber tonight, who made probably the worst start of his career in his last outing.

You do not have to be a genius at math to know his last outing with an 81.00 ERA is not good. He even got out of the first inning, allowing eight hits and six runs.

On the bright side, Kluber has been pretty good for most of the year. The 36-year-old is 10-8 in 2022 with a 4.36 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 122 strikeouts through 142.1 IP. He pitches much better at home, where opponents only hit .249 against him.

The Rays are average against the spread at 70-73 this season. However, the oddsmakers for the MLB lines will note that Tampa Bay loves playing at Tropicana Field. They are an impressive 47-24 as the home team on the scoreboard.

Rangers vs Rays Head-to-Head

This season, we have only seen one series between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays.

It was a four-game series, where the Rangers won the first two and the Rays won the next two. This three-game series will be the final time these two teams battle in 2022.

When betting online, you should note that the Rangers have outscored the Rays 16-12 in the season series.

Rangers vs Rays Prediction

The oddsmakers in our sportsbook expect this to be a pitcher’s duel tonight.

You have Martin Perez, who has consistently been a stud, and Corey Kluber, who threw 7.0 scoreless innings, then five days later could not get past the first inning. So this will be an exciting battle between the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays.

Looking at the over/under, it is set at seven and a half tonight. That is the lowest of any slate. So take over 7.5 Ev and do not look back. The last three Rangers games have hit the over.
