My prediction

• Texas Rangers +1.5 Runs (-225)

The big storyline here is the return to New York of Jacob deGrom, who last pitched in the Big Apple in 2022 with the Mets. Incredibly, at the age of 37 and after Tommy John surgery, he still looks like the same pitcher who dazzled Citi Field back in the day. The Rangers have won six of his nine starts, including four in a row, and we think this is a great start to the best MLB parlay picks today.

• Rangers vs Yankees Under 7.5 Runs (-105)

As far as MLB betting lines go, this is a low number. But with deGrom dealing and Ryan Yarbrough going up against the weak Texas lineup, there should be plenty of zeroes put up. The Rangers land on the under a league-high 68.8% of the time while the Yankees hit it 53.3% of the time, so the odds are in favor of a low-scoring affair. New York won the series opener 5-2 on Tuesday.

We like deGrom to have a solid game, but will take the under here with this addition to our MLB prop picks today. One of the more interesting storylines in Yankees land lately has been a dramatic drop in strikeouts for a lineup that’s usually near the top of the list. New York has fanned 122 times in 16 games in May (7.6 per game), fewest in the American League. As great as he’s been, deGrom’s K rate is his lowest since 2016.

• Jonah Heim 2+ Total Bases (+136)

If Heim is in there catching deGrom, then you should think about including some sort of prop bet with him. Not only is he among the few Rangers hitters getting some consistent production, but he’s also homered and walked in five career plate appearances vs Yarbrough.

Heim provided all of the Rangers’ offense in Tuesday’s 5-2 loss, and when making MLB today predictions, we have to consider him staying hot.
