Teams Seek More Offense
The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels will each try to garner more offense when the two meet in the second game of their series. After a low-scoring series opener where both teams combined for three runs, the Angels came out victorious 2-1. However, according to MLB odds, the Red Sox are favored to win game two.
Red Sox In Need of Offense
Boston dropped its second straight game after its offense struggled to show up yet again.
After being shut out in their previous game against the San Diego Padres, the Red Sox only managed to score one run in their loss to the Angels, with the run in the sixth ending a 19-inning scoreless streak.
Boston struck out nine times and finished with four hits, though it remains fourth in the MLB with a .266 batting average.
The Red Sox’s pitching did a solid job in the series opener, but the team will need to score more than one run to get back to its winning ways.
Angels Get Strong Start
Los Angeles didn’t have the greatest day offensively either, but it earned the win due to strong pitching.
Jaime Barria pitched five shutout innings in his first start in two years for the Angels, notching six strikeouts in that time.

The Angels’ relievers finished out the game strong, throwing three more strikeouts and allowing two more hits and one run in the final four innings to pick up the win.
Los Angeles will hope to get another strong start in game two of the series to keep the Red Sox off the bases yet again.

Brayan Bello (3-1, 4.45 ERA) vs Griffin Canning (2-2, 6.14 ERA)
Bello makes his seventh start for the Red Sox after showing steady improvement this season, going from a 6.57 ERA in April to a 2.81 ERA in May. However, his one loss this season came at the hands of the Angels, when he allowed five runs in 2⅔ innings, so taking advantage of MLB live betting odds is probably best.
Canning has had the opposite trend, seeing his play suffer from one month to the next. After finishing April with a 4.11 ERA, it doubled in May to 8.36. Canning has allowed 13 runs in 14 innings this month, which is something to keep in mind for those making MLB picks.
