Red Sox Aim for Third Win in Row
The Boston Red Sox nabbed their second straight win by taking down the Houston Astros 3-2 on Monday night. It was a surprise upset on the MLB betting odds as the Astros were favored to win.
The Astros have now dropped two out of their last three but they should get a shot in the arm with some trades that came in on Monday. The team picked up catcher Christian Vazquez from the Red Sox and Trey Mancini from the Baltimore Orioles.

Will that give them the shot in the arm they need to cash versus the MLB odds on Tuesday?
Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Red Sox vs Astros. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.
Red Sox Rolling With Crawford
The Red Sox are sending out Kutter Crawford, who is 2-3 with a mediocre 4.15 ERA. Crawford has some good and bad to pick through with his stats as he’s 1-1 with a decent 3.93 ERA on the road.
He’s allowed just one home run during those 18.1 innings away from home. That could be a key here if you bet online because the Astros have clubbed the third-most home runs in the majors.
The Red Sox did get the win on Monday but their lineup is laboring. They are hitting just .234 over their last 10 and have been outscored by 11 runs in that span.
Vazquez, who they traded to Houston before the series opener, had been batting .347 with three RBIs and two walks over the last seven days, so that won’t help their lineup.
Astros Looking to Bounce Back
Houston will send Cristian Javier to the mound in the hopes of changing their momentum. They are just 5-5 in their last 10.
Javier is 6-6 overall with a solid 3.26 ERA. He’s also registered the 15th-most strikeouts in the league with 121. The Red Sox, as a team, bat just .250 against him. Much of that is J.D. Martinez, who is 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Javier has been good when playing at home for Houston. He’s pitched 49.1 innings at home and is 4-3 with a 2.55 ERA.
However, Javier faded in July and had a lofty 4.56 ERA. He coughed up a whopping seven home runs after giving up just four in the first three months of the season. Careful if you’re thinking of laying the juice with the Astros for your MLB picks.
Red Sox vs Astros Head-to-Head
The Red Sox have been able to beat the Astros in three out of the four matchups this season.

Red Sox vs Astros Prediction
The Red Sox were able to get the better of Houston on Monday but, generally speaking, these two squads are opposite when it comes to quality. The Astros aren’t an easy team to beat twice in a row.
However, Boston has won three out of the four games against Houston. At the same time, the Red Sox are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, so it’s hard to bet on their momentum continuing.
Javier has been struggling of late and Crawford isn’t exactly an ace. Look for more runs in this one and the game to go over the number.
