Two Disappointing Teams Collide
The Boston Red Sox try to sweep a two-game series with the host Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night. Boston won the series opener, snapping a five-game losing streak that dropped the team into last place in the American League East. Atlanta had a two-game winning streak snapped with Tuesday’s setback and is in second place in the National League East standings.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Red Sox vs Braves. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Red Sox Finally Put it Together
The Boston Red Sox had been struggling offensively, but they broke out with a six-run second inning on Tuesday night, highlighted by Rafael Devers’ first career grand slam. Boston scored nine runs in the victory, nearly as many as they had during their five straight losses (10). Devers’ blast helped to raise the team’s spirits early.
“I got a good pitch to hit,” Devers said through a translator after Tuesday’s win. “If it was in the zone, I was going to put a good swing on it.”
Devers leads the Red Sox with five home runs and 15 RBIs, batting .315 and adding nine doubles and 18 runs scored.
Second baseman Trevor Story drove in a pair of runs and was 2-for-5. Story has struggled a bit in his first season with Boston, batting .204 with seven doubles, 12 RBIs and nine runs scored.
Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will be on the mound as the Red Sox go for the sweep on Wednesday. Eovaldi is 1-1 with a 2.94 ERA in six starts, striking out 36 over 33⅔ innings. He suffered his first loss in his last outing against the Chicago White Sox on Friday, allowing three runs and six hits over five innings while striking out four and walking three.
Braves Struggling at Home
The Atlanta Braves haven’t exactly had a home-field advantage, with Tuesday’s loss putting them at 8-9 at Truist Field in 2022. Atlanta took two of three from the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend, but they need to play better at home.
Right-hander Ian Anderson will make his sixth start in the series finale. Anderson is 3-1 with a 4.01 ERA, having won his last three decisions. Anderson picked up the victory in his last outing vs. the New York Mets on May 4, by going 5⅓ innings and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out one and walking four.
Outfielder Marcell Ozuna went hitless at the plate on Tuesday, but he did drive in a pair of runs. Ozuna has been struggling, hitting just .210 with five doubles, four home runs, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has just two hits in his last five games.
Third baseman Austin Riley has also been having his problems, going a combined 0-for-14 with six strikeouts over the last four games. Riley leads the Braves with seven home runs and has seven doubles, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Red Sox vs Braves Head-to-Head
The Boston Red Sox are looking to repeat their success against the Atlanta Braves from a year ago, when they took three of four matchups. Boston swept both games played in Atlanta last season and is 10-1 as the visiting team against the Braves since the 2016 season.
Atlanta has won the season series just once in the last 11 years. Looking at the MLB lines, the Braves are expected to bounce back with a win in Wednesday’s contest.

Red Sox vs Braves Prediction
The Boston Red Sox have not shown a lot of consistency at the plate this season, so it’s hard to expect another big scoring performance on Wednesday. The Atlanta Braves have a solid pitcher on the mound and should be able to finish this two-game set with a split.
When doing your MLB betting, take Atlanta to pick up the home win.
