Red Sox Aim for Fourth Win in Row
The Boston Red Sox have been slowly finding their groove. They’ve currently won three straight games and five out of their last six. On Wednesday, they took down the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-3.
It was just another loss on the record for the Pirates, a team that has lost six straight games and eight out of their last nine. Why even bother with them if you bet online?
Let’s take a look at the MLB betting odds for this Thursday matchup and see if the Red Sox are the best bet here or if there is something else worth investing in. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.
Winckowski Tasked With Keeping Momentum Alive
Boston Red Sox will be starting Josh Winckowski in this one. He’s been good but not great with a 5-5 record and a below-average 4.69 ERA.
However, he’s been able to help the team win in his last three appearances. It could be a sign of good things to come moving forward.
We’ve also seen him perform much better on the road compared to at home. The records are fairly similar, but his ERA goes from 5.94 with home-field advantage down to 2.82 on the road.
We have no intel on how he fares against the Pirates as he’s never faced them. However, keep in mind that the Pirates are batting .213 as a team over the last 10 days.
Almost the entire lineup is cold right now, although the team’s leading home run hitter, Bryan Reynolds, is batting .304 over the last week.
Brubaker Starting for Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates have had a really rough time overall lately. J.T. Brubaker has been a part of it as he’s struggled to deliver quality starts. He has a record of 2-10 and a 4.45 ERA.
As a team, the Pirates have lost the last six games in which he’s pitched. He’s had trouble lasting in games as he has pitched just 13.1 innings in his last three contests.
Just as with Winckowski, there is little intel to work with in terms of Brubaker and the Red Sox, as he’s only faced two of their batters. Tommy Pham is one player he’s faced and he’s hot right now. Pham has three jacks and three doubles over his last 10 while batting .283.

Red Sox vs Pirates Prediction
It’s hard to roll with the Pirates in the sportsbook here. They’ve been struggling a lot as a team lately, losing eight out of their last nine. That includes two straight defeats to Boston.
Brubaker hasn’t been solely to blame for their troubles but his 2-10 record doesn’t give them a load of confidence.
Winckowski hasn’t been phenomenal himself, though it does appear that Boston is finding a bit of a rhythm here coming into this one. They should be able to pick up the three-game sweep. Take the Red Six with your MLB picks.
