Dodgers Go for Sixth Straight Win vs Visiting Reds

Slumping Cincinnati Tries To Snap Losing Skid

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to extend their five-game winning streak and sweep a weekend series with the visiting Cincinnati Reds when the teams square off Sunday.

Los Angeles has won the first three games of the series, including a 5-2 victory on Saturday night, and is tied with the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies for the top spot in the NL West.

Reds vs Dodgers Picks

Cincinnati has lost five in a row and is sitting in last place in the NL Central, two games behind the fourth-place Milwaukee Brewers. This matchup may seem easy to pick, but check out our in-depth preview of the game before you make a single bet online.

Let’s check the latest MLB Picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB Odds for Reds vs Dodgers. We’ve plenty of MLB Predictions.

Greene Bright Spot Despite Another Reds Loss

Rookie pitcher Hunter Greene had quite an outing on Saturday night, setting a record with 39 pitches recorded at 100 miles per hour or faster, the most since pitch tracking started in 2008. Greene broke the record previously held by Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets, who threw 33 in June.

Unfortunately for the Reds, Greene couldn’t keep his velocity up, and the Dodgers were able to break through against him, but he at least showed the team some hope for the future.

“I wish we would have come out with a win, but it was a really, really fun time,” Greene said after Saturday’s loss. “It was an unbelievable feeling and experience to go against that lineup. Freddie (Freeman) gave me some love, kind of a tip of the cap, so that was cool. I was happy to be able to do that here and have family here.”

Right-hander Tyler Mahle will try to follow that performance up with a good one of his own when he gets the start. Mahle is 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA, allowing just one earned run over nine innings of work. Mahle has 11 strikeouts and four walks and has allowed just five hits.

Offensively, the Reds have struggled. Shortstop Kyle Farmer leads the team with a .300 batting average, with Cincinnati’s team batting average of .185 ranking 29th in the major leagues. The Reds’ on-base percentage of .256 ranks last in baseball.

Turner, Dodgers Keep Rolling Along

The Los Angeles Dodgers have gotten off to a fast start, but they’ve needed every one of their six wins to keep pace in the stacked NL West. The Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants are also 6-2 entering Sunday’s action, which is tied for the best record in baseball.

Fueling the team’s hot start has been the hot bat of shortstop Trea Turner, who extended his hitting streak to 27 games on Saturday night with a two-run home run, his first of the season. Turner is batting .353 with a triple, a home run, seven RBIs and five runs batted in.

Freeman is still trying to get it going in his first season with the Dodgers. The former NL MVP had his first RBI with a sacrifice fly in Saturday’s win, but he’s batting .250 with three doubles and five runs scored.

Left-hander Andrew Heaney will be on the mound for Los Angeles for the series finale. Heaney is making his second start of the season after going 4⅓ innings against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday and allowing just an unearned run and three hits while striking out five and walking none.

Reds vs Dodgers Head-to-Head

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to dominate the Cincinnati Reds in head-to-head matchups this season, though they dropped two of three to the Reds at home last season. The teams split the season series in 2021, as Los Angeles won two of three in Cincinnati.

Los Angeles took five of six matchups in 2019 (the teams didn’t play in 2020), but Cincinnati won six of seven meetings in the 2018 season. The MLB lines anticipate this season’s trend to continue, as the Dodgers are favored in the series finale on Sunday.

Cincinnati Reds vs Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Lines

Cincinnati Reds vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds are having trouble scoring runs during their losing streak, and that’s not going to change against Heaney. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the hotter teams in baseball at the start of this season, and they’ll complete the sweep with a Sunday victory.

When doing your MLB betting, take Los Angeles to get the win at home.
