Braves Need to Rebound
The St. Louis Cardinals gave the Atlanta Braves all they could handle over the weekend, taking two of three from the World Series champs. That includes a Sunday game where the Braves were huge favorites on the live MLB odds late before the Cards managed a late comeback.
That puts the Braves on a mini two-game losing streak as they host the Colorado Rockies this week. The Rockies helped the Braves out as they beat the National League East-leading New York Mets 1-0.
The Braves will be huge favorites on the MLB betting odds in this one but are they the right option in the sportsbook?
Rockies Rolling With Urena
Jose Urena will be getting the start for the Colorado Rockies in this one, and he’s had his fair share of challenges. He’s 2-5 with an ugly 5.98 ERA. Colorado has had a rough time with Urena on the mound in general.
They’ve lost eight of the last 10 games in which he’s appeared. If you bet online, note that he hasn’t been a profitable pitcher for you recently.
Urena started the season with the Milwaukee Brewers before being flipped to the Rockies at the trade deadline. The trade has seen him appear in those 10 aforementioned matchups, but the chemistry hasn’t been there yet for either side.
He has a history with the Braves since he used to play for the Miami Marlins, who are in the same division. They’re batting .310 against him as Marcell Ozuna, Ronald Acuna and Dansby Swanson all have home runs off him.
Braves Giving Fried Go-Ahead
The Atlanta Braves will be starting Max Fried, so when you look at the pitching discrepancy, it’s easy to see why they are such a big favorite.
Fried has proven to be a formidable starter as he’s compiled the eighth-best record in the league at 12-4 with the seventh-best ERA of 2.52.
His last two games were stellar, as he has allowed just three runs in his last 15 innings of work.
It hasn’t mattered if Fried is pitching on the road or at home; he’s performed equally well either way. At home, he’s 6-3 with a 2.49 ERA, and on the road he’s 6-1 with a 2.57 ERA.
He’s got some hot sticks behind him as Austin Riley is 6-for-21 over his last seven days with five RBIs while Matt Olson is 8-for-25 in that same span with a home run, six runs and four doubles.
Rockies vs Braves Head-to-Head

Rockies vs Braves Prediction
The Braves seem to be the favorites to roll with the way this game is setting itself up. Atlanta has performed better throughout the season and is starting Fried, one of the best pitchers in the league.
On top of that, Urena has had a tough time getting adjusted to his new roster, helping Colorado win just two out of the 10 games he’s appeared in. This looks like it will be a rough spot for him – even as a big dog.
Atlanta is the safer choice if you’re looking to pick a winner, but you will have to lay plenty of juice. Consider the runline in this spot.
