When asked about his team in the spring, San Diego Padres chairman Peter Seidler said, “We’re here to win a championship and we came reasonably close last year. We believe we have every chance this year.”
San Diego went out and spent a ton of money this offseason, and that offense should be terrific.
The Padres are going to be without Fernando Tatis Jr. until the middle of this month, but Xander Bogaerts will be on the field to begin the year. While San Diego has some solid pitching, this team is looking to do some damage on offense.
Blake Snell has been chosen to start in the season opener, and he was terrific a season ago. If the Padres can get quality starts most of the season, they will be nearly impossible to beat.
