Kansas City Has Won 5 Of 6
The Kansas City Royals go for a third straight victory when they face the host Los Angeles Angels in the finale of a wild three-game series on Wednesday night. Kansas City won an 11-inning affair on Tuesday night despite blowing leads of three or more runs twice and has pulled to within a half-game of the fourth-place Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Los Angeles couldn’t complete its comeback on Tuesday, dropping its second straight and falling into third place in the AL West. This game should be a good one as well, so before you make any bet online on the contest, check out our in-depth preview.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Royals vs Angeles. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Royals Win Wild Contest Despite Blowing Leads
The Kansas City Royals had to deal with the never-say-die Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night, as the host team rallied from 5-0 and 10-7 deficits before falling 12-11 in 11 innings. Kansas City showed its resilience by winning the game despite those comebacks, with Whit Merrifield’s RBI double in the top of the 11th ending up being the difference in the contest.
“That’s one of the most fun games I’ve ever been a part of,” Kansas City rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. said after Tuesday’s win. “Just top to bottom, there was a lot of energy going on. It was a blast. Every time (Shohei) Ohtani or (Mike) Trout come up to the plate, you hold your breath a little bit out there. It’s fun to watch them play, and hopefully they don’t do as much damage as they did against us (tonight).”
Witt did some damage himself, hitting a pair of home runs and driving in a career-high four runs. Witt is batting .243 with 16 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
First baseman Carlos Santana was almost unstoppable on Tuesday, going 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, five RBIs and two runs scored. Santana is batting just .210 with eight doubles, four home runs, 18 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 48 games.
Left-hander Daniel Lynch will try to shut down the Angels’ offense when he makes his 13th start. Lynch is 3-6 with a 5.19 ERA, striking out 60 in 59 innings. He’s coming off a win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday in which he went five innings and allowed one run on four hits while striking out 10 and walking two.
Ohtani Hoping To Bring Angels Win
Shohei Ohtani did everything he could at the plate to try to give the Los Angeles Angels a victory on Tuesday night, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and eight RBIs, including a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, but now he’ll try to win Wednesday’s game on the mound.
Ohtani is 5-4 with a 3.28 ERA this season, striking out 77 over 60⅓ innings. He’s won his last two starts, including throwing six shutout innings against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, allowing just three hits while striking out six and walking two.
At the plate, the reigning AL MVP is batting .260 with 13 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs, 45 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
Trout was 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Tuesday’s contest. The All-Star outfielder is batting .284 with 15 doubles, a triple, 21 home runs (second in the majors), 43 RBIs and 49 runs scored (fifth in baseball).
First baseman Jared Walsh was 3-for-6 and finished a single short of the cycle on Tuesday, driving in a pair of runs and scoring two times. Walsh is batting .261 with 12 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
Royals vs Angels Head-To-Head
With their victory on Tuesday night, the Kansas City Royals have already matched or exceeded their win total against the Los Angeles Angels in each of the last three seasons these two teams have squared off. Los Angeles went 4-2 against Kansas City in both 2019 and 2021 (they didn’t play in 2020) and was 6-1 against the Royals in 2018.
The Royals have also exceeded their total number of wins in Los Angeles over that three-season span, as they were just 1-8 at Angel Stadium since the beginning of the 2018 campaign prior to this series. The MLB lines are favoring the Angels to finally come away with a win in this series on Wednesday night.

Royals vs Angels Prediction
The Kansas City Royals had a fantastic night on Tuesday and have been solid throughout this series, but they’ve been inconsistent this season, so it’s hard to see it carrying over to one more game against the Los Angeles Angels. Look for Ohtani to have a big game both on the mound and at the plate so help the Angels to the victory.
When doing your MLB betting, take Los Angeles to win at home.
