Surging Miami Making a Run
The Miami Marlins are starting to find a rhythm and are now hitting a portion of their schedule in which MLB betting will likely be favoring them consistently. They will play Game 2 against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, one of two teams with less than 20 wins this season.
In the opening game, the Marlins’ offense produced nine runs to win 9-6. Luis Arraez led the way with three hits, bringing his batting average to .399 and helping Miami overcome an early four-run deficit.
Bet Against Royals
Besides the Kansas City Royals, the only other team under 20 wins still is the Oakland Athletics, who are on pace to have one of the worst seasons ever. That has made going with Kansas City for MLB picks extremely difficult unless you want to go against them.
They haven’t been great against the money line with a record of 18-42. That carries over to covering the run line for MLB spreads. The Royals only cover it 35% of the time, the lowest in the league. On top of that, Kansas City hits the under 55.2% of the time, sixth highest.
Marlins Scheduling Luck
The Marlins are in a sweet spot in their schedule, having just swept the Athletics and are now in a three-game series with the Royals. These are the two worst teams in the league, helping lean MLB lines toward Miami.
This is the perfect time for the Marlins to close the gap in the National League East standings, only three games back from the first-place Atlanta Braves. Furthermore, they will next play the Chicago White Sox, who have the third-worst record in the American League, keeping MLB odds on the Marlin’s side.
Starting Pitching Matchup
Zack Greinke (1-5, 4.19 ERA) vs Jesus Luzardo (4-4, 4.05)
The Royals will start 39-year-old Zack Greinke, who is coming off a very good month of May. He had an ERA of 2.30 through six starts, with five games with two or fewer runs allowed, though he only worked past the fifth inning twice. The only problem with his strong performances is that they did not result in wins, with the Royals losing Greinke’s last four starts.

On the other side, 25-year-old Jesus Luzardo will take the mound for the Marlins. Luzardo has struggled with consistency, allowing one run in three of his five games last month and over four runs in two others. That continued in his previous start, giving up five runs in 5.1 innings. However, Luzardo has kept his strikeout numbers high with 78 through 66.2 innings.
Royals vs Marlins Head-to-Head
The Royals had not played a complete series against the Marlins since 2019, winning it 2-1. The Marlins won the first game of this series, 9-6, which hit the over of seven.

Royals vs Marlins Betting Lines
Neither team has a lineup that can headline MLB news and dominate a game. While the Marlins’ offense has spiked up a little, take into account their recent opponents. The Royals have consistently been hitting the under, including six times in the last 10 games.
Pick: Under 8 -120
The Royals may have the more experienced pitcher, but Luzardo has been good enough, giving neither team an advantage for starting pitching. The Marlins’ offense has not been much better than the Royals, but they have been a lot more consistent recently, which should help get the win.
