- Picking San Diego (-1.5) feels like the best bet for tonight’s Royals vs Padres game.
- Make sure to give Manny Machado’s over 0.5 in Runs+RBIs some love tonight.
Whether you’re expecting a late-game fight or a tight game through and through, the San Diego Padres, who are hosting the Kansas City Royals for the first of a three-game weekend series at Petco Park, definitely know how to keep fans who bet on MLB games on the edge of their seats.
The Padres, who are still struggling to find the level of consistency needed to fulfill their early-season MLB futures betting prediction, will look to make it back-to-back wins following Thursday’s valuable 5-3 road win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With the home team coming into the game as favorites, let’s break down the top bets and MLB props today to score a win.
Royals vs Padres Prediction Today, June 20, 2025
My prediction
-
San Diego Padres -1.5 (+144)
Look, I respect Kansas City’s latest series sweep against the Texas Rangers as much as anybody else. But something I appreciate even more was the Padres win over the Dodgerson Thursday.
San Diego showed the kind of grit and determination that fans have been waiting for from this team for way too long now.
Yes, even with that three-run rally from LA in the ninth.
Looking at San Diego’s record this season, it’s abundantly obvious they play their best ball at Petco Park, holding a 21-12 record.
Furthermore, as a home team, they’ve covered the run line in 20 out of those 33 games, making San Diego covering an easy MLB game prediction to make.
Bet San Diego Padres -1.5 (+144)
-
Royals vs Padres Total Under 7.5 (-110)
Here we have a matchup of teams with struggling offenses and great bullpens. Plus, both the Royals and Padres are ranked second and third, respectively, in the least amount of strikeouts on offense.
Looking at records from both teams’ MLB matchups this season, riding the under in the total has been a continuous trend, with 41 of San Diego’s games going under this season and 44 of KC’s games going down the same route.
While I like San Diego to cover the run line, I don’t expect this to be an offensive blowout, so bet smart and take the under.
Bet Royals vs Padres Total Under 7.5 (-110)
Royals vs Padres Prop Picks and Best Bets
-
Nick Pivetta Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-127)
I know I just talked about how the Royals are ranked second in the league in fewest strikeouts on offense. It’s almost impossible to get the Royals to chase strikes. But I can’t fade Nick Pivetta, one of my favorite pitchers this season, in tonight’s game.
Tossing at least seven Ks in four of his last six outings, including nine against the Arizona Diamondbacks in his last start, I believe Pivetta could put on a show tonight at home against an inconsistent KC offense.
Bet Nick Pivetta Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-127)
-
Manny Machado Over 0.5 Runs+RBIs (-132)
Has anybody checked MLB news today to see if Manny Machado was part of Thursday’s almost-fight against the Dodgers?
If he was a part or not, do you know what he did do? Continue with his recent hot streak on the plate, with six hits and six RBIs driven over the past seven days.
I had Machado’s over in hits Thursday as part of a Padres SGP in our “Free MLB Picks Today” page (which you should totally check out), and it paid off great.
For tonight, though, I’m taking Machado either driving in or scoring at least one run at -136 odds. With how much he’s been getting on base lately and his recent RBI numbers, it’s an easy pick to chase.
Bet Manny Machado Over 0.5 Runs+RBIs (-132)
-
Royals vs Padres YRFI (+109)
Between KC starter Michael Lorenzen coming into this game following a really bad stretch to finish May and start June, allowing 20 runs over his last five games combined, and San Diego playing its best ball at home, I’m taking there to be at least one run scored in the first inning of tonight’s game.
San Diego has a perfect opportunity to start this game off with a bang and should definitely do so, taking advantage of a struggling starter who’s eating up runs like he was at a buffet.
Bet Royals vs Padres YRFI (+109)
