Run Line Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 Runs (+110)
The Bombers, favored to win the AL in MLB betting odds, get a jolt with the return of Clarke Schmidt to the mound. While Kris Bubic has been electric out of the gate in his return to the starting rotation for Kansas City, there will be a correction at some point. New York has absolutely crushed left-handed pitching so far, so this could be that correction.

For some of the same reasons laid out above, we like the prospect of some runs being scored tonight. The Yankees lead the majors with an .884 OPS against southpaws such as Bubic and their .901 OPS at home is second in the bigs. And while Schmidt’s return is a big deal for a rotation that’s down a few starters, we don’t know that he’ll be sharp in this season debut.

Aaron Judge to Record 2+ Total Bases (+106)
Judge hasn’t homered in 10 games so you know he’s due. And it’s not like he’s slumping; the slugger leads the AL in runs, RBI and on-base percentage, and he’s close to the lead in just about everything else. In short, he’s off to a massive start and Bubic won’t be the guy to slow him down. Judge is 3-for-6 with a homer and a walk off the Royals’ lefty and this is just about the best of the MLB game prop picks out there.

Clarke Schmidt Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+102)
Schmidt is a so-so strikeout guy and figures to get a few, but he may not be fully stretched out so we’re fading him in MLB player props today. The Yankees probably would’ve given him one more rehab start if not for an injury to Marcus Stroman, so all Schmidt got out of two minor league outings was a total of 7⅓ innings. The righty was effective, but it’s no guarantee he gets all that deep in this one against a Kansas City lineup that doesn’t strike out too often.

Bubic traditionally struggles out of the gate and the Yankees are among the best in the majors in scoring in this frame, doing so 54.5% of the time. Judge, Jazz Chisholm and Paul Goldschmidt are a combined 6-for-13 against the southpaw. While Schmidt has been a pretty good first-inning pitcher over the years, it’s unclear what he’ll have out of the gate in his season debut.
