Dodgers Try to Keep Pace in NL West

Mariners Look to Snap Losing Streak

The Seattle Mariners try to avoid a fourth straight loss when they take on the host Los Angeles Dodgers in the second of a two-game series on Wednesday night. The first pitch for the series finale is set for 10:10 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Mariners lost the first game of this series 6-4 on Tuesday night, dropping them to .500. Seattle is 18-18 and in third place in the American League West, one game behind the second-place Houston Astros and one game ahead of the fourth-place Texas Rangers.

Los Angeles improved to 19-17 with the victory, though they didn’t make up any ground in the National League West, as four of the five teams in the division won on Tuesday. The Dodgers are in third place in the standings, a game behind the second-place San Diego Padres.

The MLB odds for Wednesday’s series finale have the Dodgers with a moneyline of -260, while the Mariners are at +210. The over/under for the game is set at eight runs.

Looking for Help

Right-hander Justin Dunn takes the mound for his sixth start for Seattle sporting a 1-0 record and 3.51 ERA. Dunn has gone at least 4.2 innings in each of his starts but has just one decision despite the Mariners going 4-1 in games he’s started.

In his last outing, he went 5.1 innings against Baltimore, allowing just a single run on a solo home run, one of just three hits. He struck out six and walked four but got a no-decision in a 5-2 Seattle win.

Mitch Haniger hit two home runs on Tuesday night to tie for second in baseball with 10. He has six hits over the last four games, knocking in four runs and scoring four times.

“I feel good,” Haniger said after Tuesday’s loss. “Over the weekend, I didn’t feel too good, so I came in and did some work. It’s always a work in progress.”

Kyle Seager also had a home run in Tuesday’s game, giving him seven on the season. He has 26 RBIs, one behind Haniger’s team-best 27, as well as nine doubles and a triple.

Warming Up?

After dropping 10 of 12 games, the Dodgers have won two of their last three, scoring 20 runs in those two victories. Los Angeles certainly has the talent to get back in the NL West race, but it has had its trouble putting runs on the board lately.

Gavin Lux had a three-run home run in the eighth inning to complete the Dodgers’ comeback from a 4-1 deficit after six innings. It’s been the inconsistency at the plate that has hurt Los Angeles.

Third baseman Justin Turner continues to lead Los Angeles in batting average (.309), home runs (seven), and RBIs (23), though he’s hitless over the last two games, including a four-strikeout night on Tuesday.

Left-hander Julio Urias gets the start for the series finale on Wednesday. He comes into this one with a 4-1 mark and a 3.59 ERA, striking out 46 and walking just six over his first seven starts.

Urias was rocked in his most recent start against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. In five innings, he allowed five earned runs on eight hits, including two home runs, striking out four and walking none in taking his first loss.

Dodgers Complete Sweep

Although they’ve been inconsistent at the plate lately, the Dodgers have too much firepower to be held down for a long. Urias should bounce back from his ugly outing in his last start and keep Seattle in check as the Dodgers win again.

When doing your MLB betting, take the Dodgers to win at home.
