The playoff race around major league baseball is heating up, and MLB betting is also becoming more important as well. With so many teams still in the playoff race in both leagues, there are a number of important games each night.
The Seattle Mariners enter their weekend series at Kansas City just four games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League, but time is running out. Seattle just lost two tough games to the Boston Red Sox to fall back in the Wild Card race.
Kansas City is 66-80 record and has been out of the race for a while. The Royals are 35-37 at home so they won’t be an easy opponent.
Seattle has been trending in the wrong direction of late, but don’t expect this team to fold in the final weeks. Mariners manager Scott Servais said, “It doesn’t look bright right now, but we aren’t eliminated, and we’ll still compete.”
Flexen Pitching Strong for Seattle
When Chris Flexen is on the mound for the Seattle Mariners, his presence tends to have a big effect on the MLB lines. Flexen is 11-6 record with a solid 3.73 ERA.
Pitching has been a problem from Seattle over the last few games, especially when it comes to the bullpen. This is going to put plenty of pressure on the lineup to produce Friday night and the rest of the way.
Kyle Seager has been the leader in Seattle for quite some time, but this might be his best season. Seager leads the team with 34 home runs and 96 RBIs and he will look to do some damage in Kansas City.
Perez Powering Royals
The Kansas City Royals have plenty of holes in their everyday lineup, but they also have a veteran catcher having one of his best season. Salvador Perez is leading the team with 45 home runs and 112 RBIs, and the Mariners will have to find a way to get him out in the series.
Brady Singer was expected to make Friday’s start but he was placed on the injured list and the Royals called up Jon Heasley from Double-A Arkansas to make his major league debut. The right-hander has a 3.33 ERA with 120 strikeouts in 105.1 innings with Arkansas.
Kansas City has had some surprising results all season and can be a pesky team when swinging the bats well. The Royals will give up some runs, but Perez has the ability to carry the load on offense.
Mariners Take Series Opener
There are a number of MLB picks that can be made for the series opener, but picking the winner is the best bet to make. Kansas City has been playing the role of spoiler for the last few weeks, but hasn’t been doing a great job of it.
Seattle comes into this game with some desperation and that should allow them to put together a great performance. The Mariners also have their top pitcher on the mound and that will help them get off to a strong start against Kansas City.
Don’t expect this game to be close as Seattle scores early and cruises to a win. Head to BetUS Sportsbook and take the Seattle Mariners -1½ as they take complete control of the series opener.
Mariners Win Series
Kansas City simply doesn’t have much to play for in this series, and playing the role of spoiler just doesn’t provide any real edge. Seattle just gave away a pair of games earlier this week and comes into this series with plenty of desperation.
If you are looking to bet online for the entire series, then you can find those odds on BetUS Sportsbook as well. Seattle seems to have a clear edge in the series opener.
Kansas City might be able to take one game in this series, but Seattle picks up at least two wins. Head to BetUS and bet the Seattle Mariners -135 to win this series over the Royals in Kansas City.
