Soto, Witt Top MLB Player Props for April 1

Let’s see a show of hands for all of those who bet online that had the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates as two of the four undefeated teams after the first weekend of the MLB season. Both teams look to continue to defy the MLB odds.

The only matchup on Monday between an undefeated and a winless team is the showdown in New York between the Tigers and the Mets.

The Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Guardians, New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals are the only road teams listed by the MLB betting lines as road favorites on Monday.

Both pitching props on Friday cashed out but the best options for Monday could feature red-hot hitters Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals and Juan Soto of the New York Yankees.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the way at +350 in the odds of winning the World Series followed by the Atlanta Braves at +400. The Houston Astros are topping the odds at +800 among the American League teams.

1. Royals SS Bobby Witt Jr. 2+ Hits (+186)

Witt is off to a sizzling start. In his last two games, he is 5-for-8 with two doubles, a triple and a home run.

Dean Kremer, who had never won more than eight games heading into last season, is coming off a 13-win season. Kremer hasn’t faced Kansas City since 2022. Although Baltimore won that game 10-7, Witt was 3-for-5 with a home run.

Witt could be ready for a huge season in Kansas City so keep an eye on the props surrounding the rising star.

2. Yankees OF Juan Soto to have 2+ Total Bases (-103)

It has been quite the start to his New York Yankees career for Juan Soto after his trade from San Diego to New York dominated the MLB news cycle.

Soto has three straight multi-hit games and he has been delivering clutch hits late in games so far for the Yankees.

His numbers (.273 batting average) against Arizona starter Ryne Nelson might not look great at first glance, but two of his three hits against Nelson have been home runs.

3. Mets P Sean Manaea Over 5 ½ Strikeouts (+100)

After starting all but three games in his first seven MLB seasons, Sean Manaea pitched out of the bullpen in 27 of 37 games with the San Francisco Giants last year.

Manaea is back in a starter’s role and he makes his 2024 debut with the New York Mets on Monday.

Detroit’s lineup is full of young sluggers who can pile up the swings and misses so that could make Manaea an enticing pick.

4. Angels P Chase Silseth to have 5+ Strikeouts (-114)

Chase Silseth didn’t allow a run in four of his first six appearances during the 2023 season.

With the exception of a tough outing against Tampa Bay, Silseth threw well late in the 2023 season when his role expanded due to injuries on the Angels’ pitching staff.

Silseth had at least a strikeout per inning in five of his last seven appearances, with 41 strikeouts in 33 ⅔ innings during that stretch.

5. Orioles OF Cedric Mullins to have 2+ Runs and RBIs (+202)

It has been a slow start to the season for Cedric Mullins as he is 2-for-11 with four strikeouts.

Perhaps seeing Michael Wacha throwing in Monday’s series opener between the Orioles and Royals is just what Mullins needs to get going.

Mullins is 8-for-18 with two home runs and five RBIs in his career against Wacha. If he can get on base, it won’t be too surprising to see Mullins score a couple of runs and that would send him over the combined runs/RBIs prop.

Questions Of The Day

Pitchers Bobby Miller of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chris Bassitt of the Toronto Blue Jays came through in the strikeout props to get the weekend off to a strong start.

Which MLB team is the heaviest favorite among Monday's games?

The Atlanta Braves are priced at -270 against the Chicago White Sox even though Atlanta is going on the road to face the White Sox. The Chicago Cubs have -215 odds to top the visiting Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Dodgers (-210) are heavy favorites in the final game of the night against rival San Francisco.
