Thursday MLB Parlay: Marte Mashes, Crochet Carves Up Competition

Thursday’s MLB slate offers a tantalizing parlay opportunity featuring two red-hot players ready to deliver: Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox.

Marte faces off against the struggling Griffin Canning while Crochet takes on the strikeout-prone Seattle Mariners. With Marte’s blistering recent form and Crochet’s dominance on the mound, this MLB parlay odds has all the ingredients for a profitable night.

Diamondbacks 2B Ketel Marte Over 1.5 Total Bases From Hits +122

Tonight’s showdown between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Griffin Canning is the perfect stage for Ketel Marte to unleash his inner baseball beast. Griffin Canning is taking the mound for the Los Angeles Angels in a pitcher’s paradise – we’re talking about a stadium that makes pitchers look like superheroes. But even heroes have their kryptonite, and Canning has been anything but super this season, surrendering 11 home runs and posting an unimpressive 4.85 expected ERA.

Marte is hitting .282 with an OPS that makes pitchers quake in their stirrups – .860 to be exact. He’s belted 14 homers and driven in 37 RBIs. With a WAR ranking him fourth in the league, Marte is essentially the D-backs’ MVP, and he’s not slowing down. He hit .438 with a mind-boggling 1.394 OPS over his last nine games, including four dingers.

Canning’s stats aren’t exactly inspiring. His 4.85 expected ERA and a .269 expected batting average? That’s mediocre at best, placing him in the 16th and 20th percentiles among MLB pitchers. When you’re in the lower tiers of the pitching leaderboard, facing Marte is like inviting a termite into a woodshop.

Marte has surpassed 1.5 total bases in five of his last eight games. So, why bet online against the streak?

Garrett Crochet Over 7.5 Strikeouts -121

Pop quiz, hot shot: Who is in second place in the MLB regarding strikeouts? Wrong! It’s White Sox ace Garrett Crochet, who is second only to Tyler Glasnow with 103 punchouts. Doing this as a member of one of the worst teams in baseball is impressive. Ranking so high in any MLB stat is amazing, but doing it as a member of the worst team in baseball? Chicago, frankly, doesn’t deserve Crochet. But not as much as Crochet deserves a more competitive team.

Let’s dive into why betting on Crochet to go over 7.5 strikeouts against the Mariners is a no-brainer.

If you are concerned that Seattle’s offense is full of powerhouse hitters, fret not. This is actually why I like Crochet in this spot. They hit a ton of home runs, but Seattle strikes out a ton, especially against southpaws. In fact, after Wednesday night’s game, Seattle has the second-worst strikeout rate against LHP at 26.1%.

Crochet, the White Sox southpaw, has been the lone bright spot in a season darker than a coal mine at midnight. Crochet is no ordinary pitcher. He ranks in the 95th percentile or better in xBA and xERA while striking out a crazy 34.3% of batters he faces.

Crochet has struck out 10+ in two of his last three starts, and Seattle has five guys in its regular starting lineup who strike out more than 24.5% of the time against left-handed pitching.
