Division Race Tightens
The Detroit Tigers may be 18 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the American League Central, but that doesn’t mean they can’t keep it close for everybody else.
The Tigers are coming off of a big victory over Cleveland on Tuesday, which now puts the Guardians just one game above both the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox.
Will Detroit be able to play spoiler once more and cash on the MLB betting odds?
Struggling Norris Starting for Tigers
Daniel Norris could be getting the start for this game. Norris was previously with the Chicago Cubs before getting traded to the Tigers, so he’s only played one game with them since the deal.
The Tigers lost to the White Sox 2-0 as Norris pitched 4.2 innings and allowed four hits and zero runs. Before the trade, he had been struggling.
Norris is 0-4 on the season with a horrendous 5.97 ERA. He previously pitched for the Detroit Tigers and has spent most of his career in Detroit, so he has some history against the Cleveland Guardians.
As a team, the Guardians bat .336 against him. Much of that is Jose Ramirez, who bats .348. The rest of the team has just eight at-bats versus Norris.
If Detroit wants to take down the Guardians on Wednesday and cash on the MLB odds, they will be needing much better production out of Norris.
Guardians Hope To Extend Lead Again
This is going to be the final matchup of a four-game series with the Tigers. Cleveland has lost back-to-back games and hopes to stop that slide here.
They’ve been laying chalk here in the sportsbook as those who bet online have been expecting them to win these games against a bad team like the Tigers.
Cal Quantrill will be heading to the mound to try and turn things around and he’s been solid this season. He’s 9-5 record and a 3.67 ERA.
More importantly, though, the Guardians have won the last seven games that Quantrill has appeared in. Cleveland will certainly be looking for him to be the magic charm they need to win here.
Tigers vs Guardians Head-to-Head
Detroit has taken on Cleveland 18 times and each team has nine wins.

Tigers vs Guardians Prediction
Detroit and Cleveland have given each other a run for their money this season. However, pitching is going to play a pivotal difference here. Norris is entering the second game with Detroit and hasn’t had much success this season. On the other hand, the Guardians have Quantrill, who has been a solid option in their rotation.
Not to mention that he’s helped them win their last seven games when he’s appeared on the mound.
