The Philadelphia Phillies are on a three-game winning streak and hope to run it to four in Game 2 of their series against the Detroit Tigers. However, Philly fans shouldn’t get too excited as it’s the first time their team has strung together three wins since the first week in May. Philly fanatics are still happier than their Detroit counterparts, with the Tigers 1-6 in their last seven games.
The MLB odds list the Phillies as betting favorites with a -170 moneyline.
Tigers in Rough Shape
The Phillies are having a bad season, but the Tigers look so much worse, with six losses in their last seven games. The team can’t buy a win against the spread (ATS) with a 2-6 record in their previous eight games.
The Tigers cover less than 48% of the time in non-division games and are on an 0-2 ATS mini-slump.
Phillies 8-16 ATS at Home
Coming off a World Series loss, the Phillies have been a massive disappointment and currently sit in fourth in the AL East standings ahead of the Boston Red Sox by 2.5 games.
The Phillies have also been unkind to MLB betting fans, with a weak 8-16 record against the MLB spread at Citizens Bank Park.

The Tigers are scraping the bottom of the barrel on Tuesday, with Tyler Alexander making his first start of the season. The reliever has been downright awful, with six earned runs in his previous seven innings. The Tigers are 0-7 in his last seven starts, and I have zero faith in him, or the Tigers bullpen start, with my MLB picks on Tuesday.
Taijuan Walker is best avoided with MLB bets until he turns a corner regarding performance. His ERA in May was 6.11 and is 6.75 so far in June, with no sigh of relief in sight. Walker allowed three or more runs in three of his last four starts, while the Phillies went 1-3 against the spread.
Chris Bassitt & Taijuan Walker pitched the most innings for the Mets last season.
NY will now face Walker & Bassitt in back-to-back games.

The good news for the Tigers is that Philly struggles against LHPs. But Alexander is an opener and won’t stick around long enough for the Phils to do too much damage. Meanwhile, the Tigers are hitting just .223 against righties.
