Oakland Looking To End Home Losing Skid
The Minnesota Twins begin a six-game road trip when they visit the Oakland Athletics in the first of a three-game series Monday night. Minnesota has won two of its last three games to remain atop the AL Central standings. The Twins lead the second-place Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox by three games. Oakland is on a two-game losing streak, residing at the bottom of the AL West. We have an in-depth preview for you of the opening game of the series, so check it out to help you decide how to bet online before Monday’s contest.
Buxton Power Continues To Lead Twins
The Minnesota Twins are happy to have designated hitter Byron Buxton healthy, which hasn’t been as often as they’d prefer over the last couple of seasons. This season, Buxton has played in just 23 games, but he is tied for second in baseball with 11 home runs, including one in Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Guardians.
“See ball, hit ball. Keep it simple,” Buxton said after Sunday’s win. “Just go out there and try to have a quality at- bat and everything else takes care of itself.”
Buxton is batting .259, with five doubles, 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He hasn’t played more than 87 games in a season since 2017.
Shortstop Jorge Polanco had his four-game hit streak snapped Sunday, though still batting .308 this month. Polanco leads the Twins with 20 RBIs, hitting eight doubles and four home runs and while scoring 13 times.
Righthander Chris Archer gets the start in Monday’s contest. Archer is 0-1 with a 4.43 ERA this season, striking out 22 in 22⅓ innings. He took the loss in his last start, against the Houston Astros last Wednesday, In just three innings, he allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking three.
Athletics Need More Offensive Punch
The Oakland Athletics are coming off a four-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels in which they scored six runs total, four of them coming in one contest. Oakland is last in the majors with a paltry .200 team batting average, as the hits just aren’t coming for the Athletics these days.
Third baseman Sheldon Neuse leads the team with a .281 batting average, hitting in five of his last six. Neuse has three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored this season.
Catcher Sean Murphy has really been struggling now, going 0-for-13 with two strikeouts in the four-game series against the Angels. However, Murphy leads Oakland with four home runs and 18 RBIs, batting just .192. He’s struck out 39 times, one of four Athletics players who’ve whiffed at least 30 times.
Lefthander Zach Logue will take the mound in Monday’s opener, bringing a 2-1 record and 1.35 ERA into his third start (fourth appearance) of the season. Logue had a great outing in his last start, going seven strong innings without allowing a run (five hits) against the Detroit Tigers Wednesday. He struck out six and no walks.
Twins vs Athletics Athletics Head-to-Head

Minnesota is looking to change a trend when playing the A’s on the road, as it has not won a series in Oakland since 2011. The MLB lines for Monday’s contest are looking for the previous series’ results to continue, as the visitors are favored at -122..

Twins vs Athletics Prediction
The Oakland Athletics are having trouble scoring any runs, and now they take on a Minnesota Twins team that had their number in the first series this season. While Logue will have a good game, we like the Twins to come away with another victory in this one.
