Important Midwest Battle
No matter how bad the AL Central may be, at least one team will walk away with a playoff bid. The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox are hoping that will be one of them as they continue their three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field in the Windy City.
Coming into this Saturday night matchup, the Twins hold the edge with a 2-game lead over the White Sox.

Minnesota enters with a 67-63 record, while Chicago sits at 66-66. Both teams are chasing the Cleveland Guardians, who sit at 68-62. With just over 30 games left in the 162-game season, the MLB playoff odds are closer than ever.
Both teams are also in contention for a Wild-Card spot, but all eyes are on the division title.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Twins vs White Sox. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions for you to consider.
Twins Need To Embrace the Road
Sure, the AL Central may receive its fair share of flack, but come October, who cares? It is anybody’s game at that point, and our MLB free picks will reflect that.
Entering game two of the series, the Minnesota Twins will be sending Tyler Mahle to the mound. The 27-year-old RHP is 6-7 with a 4.17 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 126 strikeouts through 118.2 IP. Mahle will command the zone and rarely walks guys, but he is prone to get knocked around.
The good news for Minnesota bettors is that Mahle is 4-2 on the road, and opponents hit .185 against him. Mahle–who was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds–has not allowed an earned run in his last two outings.
Minnesota struggles against the spread this season. The Twins are 59-71 in that regard and are also 30-39 against teams .500 or better. The Twins are a great team at home but are 27-33 on the moneyline on the road.
The over/under has them 60-60-10 on the season. Minnesota needs to embrace playing on the road if they want to make the playoffs.
Chicago is Runnin’ With the Devil
You may have noticed in our introduction, but the Chicago White Sox have quite a spooky record on the season. They sit at 66-66, but will the bad taboo impact their MLB lines?
The Sox will be sending their ace to the mound, Dylan Cease. The Cy Young candidate is 12-6 with a 2.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and has 190 strikeouts (tied for fourth in the league) in 147.0 innings pitched.
The 26-year-old is a workhorse who is virtually unhittable at times, as opponents hit only .154 against him in August. Cease certainly never ceases to amaze White Sox fans.
Chicago currently has a three-game win streak, which comes after a five-game losing streak.
Just like the team they are playing, the White Sox struggle against the spread, going 59-73. On top of that, they are 27-41 at home battling the spread and 33-42 at night. The over/under is 58-67-7 on the season for the team from the South Side.
Twins vs White Sox Head-to-Head
This matchup between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox will be their 12th game played against one another this season. The Twins hold a 6-5 lead in the season series.

Twins vs White Sox Prediction
Our sportsbook expects this to be a closely contested pitcher’s duel for this matchup between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox. With Mahle and Cease both pitching their best baseball of 2022, expect a fun game.
Let’s go with the Twins +1.5 (-190). It truly is hard to bet against Cease, but Mahle has been silencing bats as of late and is a strikeout machine.
Also, the storyline of a 66-66 record for the White Sox is just too good to bet on them. Even if the odds bounce around, stick with the Twins against the spread.
