The Chicago White Sox are starting to get rolling, winning seven of their last nine games as they head into a new series with the Detroit Tigers.
Granted, all nine of those games were against the Cleveland Guardians and the Kansas City Royals, but they’ve been putting things together nonetheless.
Are the White Sox a good option versus the MLB odds on Thursday in Detroit? Let’s take a closer look.
White Sox Feeling It
The White Sox players and coaches have spoken about finding a rhythm lately. Pitcher Michael Kopech had one of the worst starts to a season in his career this year but was the first one to speak out about the current hot streak.
“We’re starting to cook and we’re starting to flow,” said Kopech. He later added that this team believes they can still win their division. Those who bet online should note that this team is just 5.5 games back from the top spot in the Central. That’s not bad considering this team is 21-30.
Tigers Remain Inconsistent
Detroit has had a tough time stringing together wins this season. They’ve won two out of their last three games, but looking further out, they’ve lost three of their previous four before that.
It’s hard for MLB betting handicappers to figure out which way this team will go. They are just 7-8 in their last 15 games.
Starting Pitchers
Lucas Giolito (3-3, 3.62 ERA) vs. Alex Faedo (0-2, 4.60)
Lucas Giolito will get the start here and he’s posted a 3-3 record on the year with a solid 3.62 ERA. Unfortunately, he’s had some trouble on the road.
With 28.0 innings pitched away from home, he’s given up 17 runs. That’s a big change from his home numbers where he’s allowed just eight runs in 31.2 innings. Keep that in mind before making your MLB picks here.
Meanwhile, Detroit will give the ball to Alex Faedo. He’s only pitched 15.2 innings this year and it’s been a tough journey, to say the least. He’s given up nine runs in this stretch while losing all three appearances coming into this contest.
What’s wild is he’s only given up one walk. Batters are seeing the ball very well off of him right now.
White Sox vs Tigers Head-to Head
Chicago has done a great job of taking wins in Detroit the past few years. In the last three seasons, these teams have met up 18 times in Detroit, with Chicago winning 12 of them.

White Sox vs Tigers Betting Lines
Over/Under Pick
The total in the sportsbook is at eight runs and that feels low. With Giolito on the road and Faedo struggling to keep teams off the board, the over looks good here.
Pick: Over 8 (-115)
Moneyline Pick
Chicago is the favorite and for good reason. Detroit has shown flashes of their potential this season but it’s been difficult to trust them consistently.
Meanwhile, the White Sox have been phenomenal in their past few series and have the edge on the mound. It’s still a toss-up, so MLB live betting might be the way to go. Otherwise, take the White Sox at -132 as they should come out on top.
Pick: Chicago White Sox -145
