World Series Game 2: Big Hitters Ready To Go Yard?
Will Pitchers Take Control in Game 2?
The Houston Astros need to rebound after failing to hold onto a five-run lead in Game 1 of the World Series. With Game 2 also in Houston before the next three games are hosted by the Phillies, this is about as close to a must-win game for Houston for the second game of a best-of-seven-game series.
When looking at the MLB lines and MLB spreads, there are plenty of prop plays to consider for the Fall Classic.
The Las Vegas odds still have the Astros priced at +375 to win the series in seven games while the Phillies come in at +450 to win the title in either five or six games.
A Well-Rested Phillie Ready To Get Behind the Wheel
Neither Houston’s Justin Verlander nor Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola got the job done in Game 1. With the way the probable Game 2 starters have thrown in the postseason, it might be harder for the hitters to see good pitches to hit.
Wheeler comes in at -120 to go over 16½ outs according to the sportsbook and that would be just fine for the Phillies as the MLB odds aren’t in Philadelphia’s favor if the game turns into a showdown of relievers.
The numbers are the same for him to go over 4½ strikeouts. Wheeler made his MLB debut and finally gets to make his World Series debut so expect him to make the most out this experience,
- The Pick: Wheeler Over 4½ Strikeouts (-120)
Valdez Now the Houston Ace
Justin Verlander will be headed to the Hall of Fame, but it won’t be because of his work in World Series games. He was roughed up once again. Valdez gets the call in the most important game of the season for the Astros.
The total is at +120 for Valdez to allow more than 2½ earned runs and -160 to go under. The Phillies can put up crooked numbers without warning. However, look for Valdez to do everything he can to give the Astros the chance to even the series.
Valdez hasn’t allowed more than two runs in each of his last three starts.
- The Pick: Under 2½ earned runs (-160)

Astros Favored to Bounce Back
The Astros haven’t lost back-to-back home games in the same postseason series since 2019 and that obviously plays a role in the Astros listed +375 to win Game 2 by one run compared to the Phillies being priced at +650 to come away with another one-run win.
The Moneyline is at +1000 for the Phillies to win by three runs so that could be something to consider for those who bet online.
- The Picks: Phillies to win by 1 run (+650) and Astros to win by 1 run (+375)
Sluggers Ready for the Grand Stage
There were eight extra-base hits in Game 1 with Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto hitting the go-ahead home run in the 10th inning. Kyle Tucker of the Astros homered twice.

When it comes to the players likely to hit a homer in Game 2, Houston’s Yordan Alvarez leads the way as he is priced at +285. He is followed by Tucker at +320 with the Phillies sluggers Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber at +330.
Realmuto is priced at +470.
Alvarez hit 37 home runs during the regular season. Twenty of those came at home and 27 were against right-handed pitchers.
- The Pick: Alvarez to hit the first home run (+285).
Altuve Ready To Break Out?
It has been a tough postseason for Houston second baseman Jose Altuve, a key piece in Houston making its fourth World Series appearance in six years.
Altuve (-230) is expected to find his way on base in Game 2. He is tied with rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena in the odds to have a hit in the game.
For the Phillies, Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm, and Nick Castellanos are all priced at -210 to have a hit.
- The pick: Altuve to have a hit (-230).
