Yankees Coming off Rare Loss
The New York Yankees continue to struggle against the Houston Astros. They lost their third straight game against them, which is stunning for a team that was on pace to break the regular-season record for wins.
Those three losses are actually the only three they’ve had in their last nine contests overall, though. Now, New York moves on to play the Cleveland Guardians.
The Guardians have won two straight and three out of their last four following a five-game losing streak. They trail the Minnesota Twins by one game in the American League Central

Yankees Shouldn’t Be Worried
The New York Yankees need to get a good start in this series and there’s good evidence that will happen.
Gerrit Cole is starting on Friday. He’s got a strong 6-2 record with a 2.99 ERA, good enough for 21st in baseball. If you bet online, you know he’s been pretty reliable.
Cole has got the fourth-highest strikeout total in the league at 111 and he is flawless when playing on the road. His ERA takes a substantial jump up to 3.93 compared to the 2.31 total he has at home. However, his road record is 3-0.
Guardians Want to Keep Train Rolling
The Cleveland Guardians have been working with a little bit of momentum lately and they hope to keep it going. They’ll send Aaron Civale to the mound against New York.
Civale has not been a reliable pitcher, posting a mediocre 2-4 record and an atrocious 7.20 ERA. Civale has allowed four or more runs in six of his nine starts.
That includes a matchup with the Yankees themselves back in April. The Yankees won that game 10-2 and Civale allowed six runs in three innings.

Yankees vs Guardians Prediction
The Yankees are currently the betting favorites in the sportsbook and that isn’t all that surprising. In fact, it’s hard to see them losing this game despite Cleveland playing well lately.
