New York Plays First Road Series
Renewing Rivalry
The New York Yankees will face the Baltimore Orioles in Camden Yards as they look to build off Thursday’s shutout victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Baltimore, meanwhile, is still looking for its second win of the young campaign.
The first pitch will be thrown at 7:05 p.m. ET in Baltimore.
Let’s check the latest MLB Picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for Yankees vs Orioles. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Yankees Among AL Favorites
The New York Yankees are, once again, amongst the MLB Vegas odds favorites to win the American League and World Series. They are 4-3 and split a four-game set with the Blue Jays, expected to be their fiercest competition for the AL East. Both of New York’s wins were by shutout.
New York’s biggest concern right now is an offense that has yet to score more than six runs in a game and has posted four or fewer runs in its last six outings. This formula might work for a defensive team with outstanding pitching, but not this Yankees squad that was assembled to be a display of powerful batting talent.
Jordan Montgomery will get the starting nod for New York, giving him the opportunity to improve on his first start in which he gave up three earned runs in 3.1 innings.
Orioles: Slow Start
The Baltimore Orioles were one of the worst teams in baseball in 2021 and are off to an eerily similar start this time around. This comes despite an offseason in which they retained Cedric Mullins and Trey Mancini while adding a few plug-and-play options.
Baltimore’s lone win was a 2-0 result over the Milwaukee Brewers. Similarly to the Yankees, they have not scored more than four runs in a single game. Maybe that day will come Friday on their home field, but history is not on their side— nor are the numbers. The O’s have hit the fewest home runs in baseball and rank sixth-worst in batting average.
Jordan Lyles, one of the higher-profile offseason signings, will get the start at pitcher, coming off of a season in which he produced a 5.15 ERA.
Yankees vs Orioles Head-to-Head
The Orioles played the Yankees pretty tight last year, especially considering their woeful record overall. New York still managed to win 11 of 19 meetings last MLB season.

Yankees vs Orioles Prediction
The Yankees would be on a three-game win streak if it weren’t for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. slapping three home runs in the same game against them. Their momentum should be fairly high, and as most MLB lines reflect, they have an advantage in pure talent over the Orioles.
Baltimore was predicted by many sportsbooks to finish at the bottom of the AL East, and the Orioles are already holding up their end of the deal with a 1-5 record. It is now up to them to show some life and make bettors respond to them as opposed to avoiding them.
The biggest question mark for the Yankees has been their inability to get their sluggers going, but against a lowly opponent like Baltimore, the series opener should be a great opportunity to hit a few out of the yard, making them one of the best MLB picks of the night.
The pitching matchup does not give a strong indication as to who will win, but with the Yankees’ recent defensive record, they also have the advantage there. It is hard to find a path to victory for a Baltimore team that just has not impressed in any way thus far
Those looking to bet online should go with New York.
