The New York Yankees will stick around in Arlington to take on the Texas Rangers on Friday after beating them 4-2 on Thursday.
The Rangers have been one of the early surprises this season as they’re still in first place in the American League West. However, they have lost four in a row to fall to 14-11.

Yankees Hoping for Turnaround from Schmidt
The Yankees will be starting Clarke Schmidt in this one and it’s safe to say that he hasn’t had a great start to the season. Schmidt has appeared in five games for the Yankees, with the team only being able to win one of them.
To make matters worse, he’s given up a whopping 17 runs across only 20.0 innings pitched. Almost every single inning that he’s pitched has seen him give up a tally.
While he does have 24 strikeouts against only six walks, the bigger issue seems to be the home runs that he’s giving up. He’s allowed six already (in five starts). Texas is seventh in the majors in terms of home runs, so this could be a problem.
Rangers Sending Out DeGrom
Texas has lost four in a row and appears to be fading after a hot start. They will be sending out Jacob deGrom to try and stop the bleeding. That’s why they’re favored on the MLB lines.
The Rangers have won all five games in which DeGrom has appeared, which is excellent for those who bet online and have been backing this team.
He’s pitched 26.2 innings across those games and has given up just 11 runs. Five of those runs came in his first matchup, a game that they won 11-7. After that, he’s given up only six in the following 23.0 innings.
Batters are having a hard time connecting too as deGrom already has 43 strikeouts. That’s the fifth-most in the majors. The Yankees are batting just .232 as a team (22nd in baseball) so there’s a good chance deGrom keeps them in check on Friday.
