Taillon vs Wacha To Wrap Up Series
Out for more than a month, Michael Wacha is expected to make his return and start for the Boston Red Sox in Sunday’s series finale with the New York Yankees. The 31-year-old, who last pitched on June 28, was enjoying a solid season for the Red Sox, going 6-1 with 2.69 ERA prior to being felled by right shoulder inflammation.
“I’m ready to be back there for sure,” Wacha told the media following a rehab assignment at Triple A. “I was pretty pleased with how the ball was coming out and the command.” Wacha will be opposed by right hander Jameson Taillon, who leads the Yankees in wins with 11 this season and is 3-0 against the Red Sox in his career.

Kiner-Falefa Powers Yankees
Isiah Kiner-Falefa propelled the Yankees to a 3-2 win Saturday with three hits and three RBI, including a two-run home run, his first this season, and a safety squeeze bunt, from the No. 8 spot in the order.
The shortstop, who spent the last four years with the Texas Rangers, almost assuredly won’t eclipse the career-highs in hits, runs scored and RBI he had last season with the Rangers, but he has been solid nonetheless in his first season for the Yankees, who no longer possess the best record in the American League or in New York.
“It felt good to come through with the big homer and small ball,” the Hawaii native told the media. “Showing off both sides of my game. I’m just happy to come out with a win. We’ve played a lot of close games lately.”
Arroyo Looks To Stay Hot for Sox
Christian Arroyo came out of the All-Star break swinging a hot bat for the Red Sox, raising his batting average better than 30 points in the process.
The shortstop is hitting .404 with seven runs scored, six extra-base hits, and three RBI in the 13 games he has played. The 27-year-old has done most of his damage this season against right handers, hitting .284 with four doubles and four home runs, and will get a chance to swing against one of the better ones in Taillon.
The Red Sox are currently 4.5 games and three teams behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the third Wild-Card spot in the American League so they are going to need a lot more from the likes of Arroyo. Reinforcements in the form of Trevor Story, who manager Alex Cora said would be going on the road with the team to take batting practice, and Rob Refsnyder and Kike Hernandez, who are on rehab assignments in Double A, could be close to rejoining the team for the stretch run.
Yankees vs Red Sox Head-to-Head
The Yankees pushed its record to 7-5 against the Red Sox this season and 25-17 over the last three seasons. After playing seven straight games that went over the run total, the last two contests between have finished under by a considerable amount.
The Red Sox covered +1.5 runs for the second straight game and eighth time against the Yanks. Saturday’s game was the eighth in the season series to be decided by two runs or less.

Yankees vs Red Sox Prediction
The pitching matchup suggests another low-scoring game, but plenty of money has been lost betting the under on Red Sox-Yankees games. Neither team has been trustworthy against the run line of late to take a confident swing in that direction, so stick with the under and pray.
