The rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox continues this weekend, with a three-game set that begins in Beantown on Friday night. The Red Sox won two of three games between these teams this season, and they’re favored in the MLB betting odds for Friday’s matchup.

Despite a losing overall record, Boston is 19-17 at home this season after taking two of three from Tampa Bay this week. Can the Red Sox keep up that success? I’ll give a little insight along with some MLB game picks and props for Friday’s game.

My prediction

Boston Red Sox ML (-140)

New York has been leading the AL East for much of the season, but Boston had its number last weekend, taking two of three at Yankee Stadium in a high-scoring series. One of the pitchers in that series was Garrett Crochet, who gave up five earned runs in his start. The Red Sox lefty will have a better time in this one, making some MLB news today by helping slow down New York as Boston gets the win.

Yankees vs Red Sox Over 8.5

As I talked about, last weekend had runs galore, with every game finishing with a total of at least 15. While there might not be as many fireworks in this game, there is just too much offensive talent on both rosters to think 8.5 is a number to take the under on. New York had just one run in a win over Kansas City on Thursday, but that’s an anomaly, especially since Aaron Judge didn’t play. The runs return for the Yankees as they combine with the Red Sox to make the over a solid wager when you bet online.

Rafael Devers had an off series against the Rays this week, finishing just 1-of-10 at the plate and without an RBI. Devers is tied for third in baseball in RBI, so he’s due.

The Red Sox are rested and at home in this one. New York is facing one of the top strikeout pitchers in Crochet. This one is going to start slow for the Yankees, and Boston is going to take advantage, getting off to an early lead. I’m putting my money on the host Red Sox to win the race to three runs as the last of my MLB prop picks for this game.
