2 NRFI/YRFI Bets for 9/19
1. Nationals vs Cubs: Corbin vs Cubs could surprise you
Chicago is cooked after dropping back-to-back games to Oakland, leaving the Cubs seven games out in the wild card race and helping the Brewers clinch. As the white flag is raised, they’ll try to play for pride with Washington in town for a four-game set.

Javier Assad starts for Chicago as he puts the finishing touches on a pretty solid campaign. He takes a 3.27 ERA into this one and he’s been very stingy at home this year (2.24). That, of course, doesn’t include a quality start at Washington a few turns ago in which he picked up his seventh win, with a scoreless first along the way.
The 27-year-old from Tijuana has been pretty consistent inning-to-inning, sporting a sub-4.00 mark in each of the first five frames. Opponents are batting .245 in the first and Assad will be facing a Nationals lineup that’s 29th in the majors in first-inning OPS (.644).
Patrick Corbin is playing out his mostly woeful Washington days, but at least playing them out in a pretty good way. He’s 4-1 with a 3.34 ERA over his last five starts, which includes a win over the Yankees.
Corbin has a 4.50 ERA in the first inning, not great overall but stellar compared to his overall resume. The Cubs are 23rd in the majors in first-inning scoring percentage at home (25.68) and have every reason to start mailing stuff in.
Go against the MLB odds that usually accompany a Corbin start and select NRFI for this one.

2. Diamondbacks vs Brewers: Pfaadt vs Milwaukee spells trouble
With a division clinch and a walk-off win on Wednesday, Milwaukee is rolling into October. The Brewers can play spoiler with Arizona in town this weekend in a potential wild card round preview.

Tobias Myers, a rookie who is bidding to be a part of the postseason rotation, meets the Diamondbacks for the second straight time. He allowed four runs on a career-high nine hits in six innings at Arizona on Saturday,
The 26-year-old righty has a 3.91 first-inning ERA, the worst figure among his first four, and opponents have taken him deep seven times in that frame. The Diamondbacks continue to lead the majors in first-inning OPS (.937) and first-inning scoring percentage (38.16), and they’ll be itching to get off to a nice start in this crucial series.
Brandon Pfaadt was lit up opposite Myers in that Saturday encounter. He gave up eight runs while getting just five outs, recording three walks with zero strikeouts along the way. The putrid outing leaves Pfaadt with an 11.34 ERA over his last four starts, not the kind of number you want to see with October on the horizon.
The Brewers had two hits, a walk and a stolen base against Pfaadt in a one-run first inning last Saturday before erupting on him in the second. It won’t be that bad, but it’s hard to have too much confidence in the righty.
Bet on Diamondbacks vs Brewers First Inning to Score – YES

Question Of The Day
Any other MLB bets worth making?
If you can get in on the Jays at Rangers, take a scoreless first there. Toronto’s Kevin Gausman loves pitching on the road (2.67 ERA) and his teammates will be getting their first look at Kumar Rocker, who will be jazzed up in his first home start after a solid debut at Seattle.
