Minnesota Twins 2025 Season Preview

The Twins come into 2025 off a season that saw them win 82 games. They were in fourth place in the AL Central, a division that has MLB teams riding the wave of success with the exception of the Chicago White Sox.

2025 Minnesota Twins Win Total Projection & World Series Odds

When it comes to MLB picks to win the World Series, the Twins sit at +4000. That’s a fair number for a team that came in fourth last year. Since 2017, Minnesota has won the AL Central three times and finished second twice. MLB experts picks will be tested by the wins total projections. The Twins won 82 games last year and the number for 2025 has been set at 83½. That is an interesting bar to reach when you consider the Guardians, Tigers and Royals all figure to continue to play better.

2025 Minnesota Twins Projected Starting Lineup

Per MLB.com, the Twins’ projected lineup.

  • Matt Wallner, RF
  • Carlos Correa, SS
  • Byron Buxton, CF
  • Trevor Larnach, LF
  • Jose Miranda, DH
  • Brooks Lee, 3B
  • Willi Castro, 2B
  • Ty France, 1B
  • Ryan Jeffers, C

Lineup Strengths and Weaknesses

This lineup already took a ding and a dent as Royce Lewis is expected to miss time because of a hamstring injury. The third baseman missing could lead to some players shuffling and playing multiple positions until he recovers.

There are familiar names in the lineup like Correa and Buxton. The Twins need both in the lineup. He played 86 games last year. Buxton was there for 102 games. This pair has to avoid MLB injuries for Minnesota to move up in the division and become a bigger factor when it comes to MLB predictions and MLB playoff predictions.

Minnesota had eight players reach double figures in home runs in 2024. The leading home run hitter with 23, Carlos Santana, is gone, back to the Guardians. For a team that had a lot of players with power, they only had a pair strike out 100 times. That’s a good job getting the bat on the ball.

The Twins are an interesting mix of players. They have plenty of experience but aren’t old. Will this group be able to build an AL Central title or Wild Card spot?

Minnesota Twins Projected Starting Rotation

Starting rotation per MLB.com:

1. Pablo López, RHP
2. Bailey Ober, RHP
3. Joe Ryan, RHP
4. Chris Paddack, RHP
5. Simeon Woods Richardson, RHP

Lopez and Ober top the starting pitchers. While wins and losses don’t matter like they used to, the tandem did go 27-21 last year. If there is a concern when it comes to MLB matchups, it would be the starters had ERAs that floated around 4 or more. Those numbers don’t lend themselves to long outings and using them as part of MLB baseball parlay picks.

Projected Bullpen

MLB.com has the bullpen looking like this: Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax, Cole Sands, Danny Coulombe, Brock Stewart, Louis Varland, Eiberson Castellano, Jorge Alcala

There has been a series of MLB injuries to players expected to deliver from the ‘pen. Until Justin Topa, Michael Tonkin and Erasmo Ramírez return in some form or another, Minnesota is going to be shuffling and dealing with the group it has. When you have starters who have a high ERA across the board and uncertainty in the bullpen, that is not a good look for a squad looking up at three others from last season. Let the win-loss totals bettors beware until the bullpen is sturdy.

Minnesota Twins Schedule and Key Matchups

The Twins have to find a way to beat the three MLB teams that finished above them last season in MLB matchups in 2025. If they can’t do that with regularity, the Twins could be looking at another fourth-place finish.

There is a nice stretch in April where Minnesota should be able to thrive through home cooking. It plays 12 of 15 games. Six of those will be against the Tigers and White Sox.

May will see a period where the Twins play six at home and six on the road against the Orioles, Brewers, Guardians and Royals. It doesn’t get easier when you are in a tough division and your other opponents have serious playoff hopes.

July sets up nicely with a series at the Marlins, then home runs against the Rays, Cubs and Pirates before the All-Star break. If the bullpen is back solid then, this could set up for a winning surge.

August 1-17 is not going to be easy with divisional rivals on tap and a series at Yankee Stadium in the midst of it. Oh, and the one team it won’t be playing is the White Sox. Sigh.

The final four series of the regular season will see the Yankees and Guardians in Minnesota before the series at Texas and Philadelphia.

The schedule looks difficult and the Twins will need everyone to remain healthy and to be at their best.
