  • Winnipeg and BC look to bounce back, while Edmonton aims to reignite its offense

The CFL’s West Division features heavily for Week 18 as all but one East Division team is on bye. As such, playoff spots are at stake with this kicking off the last month of the regular season. Teams like Winnipeg lead the division though it is only ahead by a win. Everything is still up for grabs and it could impact the CFL football odds. As such, we have three different takes on each game.

3 CFL Betting Predictions for Week 18

1. Will Winnipeg End Hamilton’s Streak?

Hamilton has been on fire. The Tiger-Cats came back against the Lions and won in overtime as seven-point underdogs. That victory was their fourth straight and fifth straight against the spread (ATS). But now Winnipeg comes to town as the last team to have beaten the playoff hopefuls. The Blue Bombers edged the “Tabbies” 26-23 in Winnipeg. The CFL lines favor Winnipeg less this time.

Winnipeg was a whopping 10.5-point favorite the last time. But playing in Hamilton has given the Tabbies a bit of an edge. That shouldn’t be the case as the Bombers have a better offense and should have routed Hamilton before had it not been for Zach Collaros’s three turnovers. Hamilton is also just 1-4 ATS in its last five home games.

Every good thing has to come to an end and this is where Hamilton succumbs. The Bombers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against losing teams. The defense continues to be elite as the 27 it gave up against Edmonton (most came in “garbage time”) is only the second time it allowed this many in the last nine games. Lay the points on Winnipeg.

Bet This Pick: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -4

2. Lions, Stampeders Fire Up the CFL Scores

The Lions should be pissed heading to this one as they dropped a game many thought they had. Clearly, BC is not the same contender it was the last time Nathan Rourke took the reins. The offense is not the only issue. BC’s defense gave up 30+ points for the second straight time. When BC gives up that many, it is 0-5 for the season. This could be a red flag against Calgary.

The Stampeders are still underdogs by a touchdown here. And while we’re not betting online on them to win or cover, they should have enough to push this total – the highest of the week – to go over. Calgary averages the fewest points in the CFL at 23.6. But the team also gives up points like a charity. That’s why totals have gone over in six of its last seven games.

Calgary has allowed 30+ points in five of the last six games. The Lions could score 30+ in the first half here. But they won’t make the same mistake in easing up on their opponent. We won’t be surprised to see BC drop a 50 burger like Winnipeg did against Edmonton. BC could cover the ‘over’ by itself. That’s the play here.

Bet This Pick: Stampeders, Lions Over 53

3. Edmonton Looks to Get Its Mojo Back

Edmonton is in a must-win game against Saskatchewan. The Elks were on a roll until running into Winnipeg, which lost both games by 13+ points. Now, Edmonton hosts Saskatchewan as slight underdogs. The Roughriders have won two straight after a seven-game winless stretch. Both have identical ATS records at 9-6-0 but Edmonton has the edge if we look deeper.

The Elks are 5-2 as a CFL pick ATS in their last seven division games. On top of that, they have won two of the last three games against Saskatchewan and are 3-1 ATS in their last four. Saskatchewan is also inconsistent being 1-4 ATS in its last five games following a cover and 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games against teams with losing records.

But the real reason we love the Elks here is the offense. Edmonton has scored put up 27+ points in seven of its last nine games. It only lost once when it did and that was against Winnipeg (granted it scored when the game was out of reach). The Riders have a solid ‘D’ but have also given up 26+ in five of their last seven games. We’re backing the underdogs at BetUS Sportsbook.

Bet This Pick: Edmonton Elks +2.5 (-115)
