CFL Betting: Week 7 Features Rivalries, Close Matchups

  • Week 7 in the CFL features tighter betting lines than previous weeks.
  • The widest spread for Week 7 is 4½ points.
  • You can bet online on these matchups at the BetUS Sportsbook.

As we expected, CFL Week 6 went to the underdogs. Three of the four dogs covered the spread with Toronto pulling off the biggest upset over Montreal albeit thanks to a major injury. Moving on to CFL Week 7, the CFL football odds have tightened. If these lines prove accurate, all matchups will be close games. No spread is wider than 4½ points as we have ourselves an unofficial “Rivalry Week.

CFL Betting Predictions and Picks for Week 7

1. Toronto vs Hamilton Headlines a Competitive Week 7

And just like that, there are no more unbeaten teams in the CFL. The Toronto Argonauts knocked off the Montreal Alouettes as a six-point underdog last week. Of course, the Als lost quarterback Cody Fajardo during the game. But Toronto took advantage and held Montreal to a season-low 18 points. As such, the Argos are favored in a visit to its next-door rival: Hamilton.

2. Can Tiger-Cats Finally Reward Bettors?

Toronto has owned Hamilton with an 8-2 record straight-up and against the spread in their last 10 meetings. However, Hamilton is also strong coming off a bye week. It is 10-2-1 ATS in its last 13 games after an extra week of rest. This may finally be the game Hamilton covers as it is 0-5 ATS for the season.

It’s tough to trust Hamilton given its record. Instead, the best CFL Tiger bet may be on the total to go over 53 (-110) . Four of these teams’ five games this season have gone over their totals. Five of Hamilton’s last six home games have trended similarly. The total is set at 53, which is tied for the highest for CFL Week 7.

The Argos lead the CFL in scoring average at 30.8 points per game. Meanwhile, Hamilton is seventh at 24.8, but it averages the second-most yards per game (400.4). This could turn into a shootout with each team scoring 30-plus points. Bet the over.

3. Saskatchewan Ready To Beat Winnipeg

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers are the most intense rivals in the CFL. However, it hasn’t been competitive in recent seasons. Winnipeg has won nine of the last 10 meetings and is 7-3 ATS during this span. Saskatchewan’s only win here came in overtime. Their totals have also gone over in three straight games.

But this season, Saskatchewan has been in better form. The Roughriders are 4-1 on both the moneyline and ATS while Winnipeg is just 1-5 ATS. Saskatchewan has also won three of the four games it was lined as an underdog. And at home, the Riders are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games. As the +115 underdog, we’ll take the dog shot on the hosts.

4. Albertan Underdogs in Rematches

The Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders, provincial rivals, are coming off losses and enter CFL Week 7 as underdogs. They take on familiar foes in Ottawa and BC, respectively.

The Elks fired head coach and general manager Chris Jones after a 0-5 start. They’ve lost four straight games by a field goal and are 3-1 ATS in this span. Still, they were favored to beat Ottawa but gave up the game-winning FG.

It’s always difficult to make changes of this significance during the season, but we owe it to everyone within the organization and to all our fans to hold people accountable when we fall short,” Elks president and CEO Rick LeLacheur said.

A change in coaches – Jarious Jackson takes over on an interim basis – could be the kick in the butt Edmonton needs. Ottawa is just 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win. Taking a shot on Edmonton at even money on the moneyline is not the worst idea.

Calgary, on the other hand, is 4-1 ATS despite being 2-3. It has struggled against BC, a team that is 7-3 ATS and on the moneyline in their last 10 matchups. The Stamps get 4½ points in their home turf with a high total of 52½. They are also 2-0 at home this season and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in Calgary.

But it may be better to lay the points on the CFL lines given how the Lions and their five straight wins have looked recently.

Saskatchewan and Calgary are tied with the best ATS record at 4-1-0 in 2024.
