CFL Week 13 Power Rankings: Number-Two Is Up For Grabs

1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-1)

• Last Week: 1

It was another historic feat for Winnipeg: they beat Calgary three straight times in the regular season for the first time in nearly 40 years. Like their previous two games, this third one was another nail-biter as Winnipeg overcame a reinvigorated Stamps offense to get back in the win column.

Next Game: at Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-5)

2. Calgary Stampeders (6-4)

• Last Week: 3

So close yet so far. That has been the theme for the Stampeders against Winnipeg. On the bright side, Jake Maier is what the team has needed. He was nearly flawless as he threw for 294 yards, three touchdowns, and had an 82.1 percent completion rate. If he can maintain this level of play, the Stamps will be a hot bet online moving forward.

Next Game: vs. Edmonton Elks (3-8)

3. Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-5)

• Last Week: 4

Fajardo quieted critics as he was spotless in his team’s win over the Lions. The Roughriders still have plenty of issues on offense, mainly on their offensive line. But with a near-complete performance, Saskatchewan is looking solid. A matchup against Winnipeg this Labor Day Weekend gives the Riders a golden opportunity to make a statement.

4. Toronto Argonauts (5-5)

• Last Week: 5

The Argonauts were due for a big bounceback performance, and they delivered in spades. Toronto beat up on Hamilton on both sides of the ball. McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw three touchdowns for the first time this season while the defense had a combined 10 sacks and turnovers-forced.

Next Game: at Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-8)

5. BC Lions (8-2)

• Last Week: 2

We’re not counting the Lions out yet. But if the loss against Saskatchewan is a sign of things to come, this team could go on a losing skid. Antonio Pipkin made some plays at quarterback, but the Lions still went out to acquire Vernon Adams Jr. The team now gets a bye week to regroup.

Next Game: at Montreal Alouettes (4-6) (Week 14)

6. Montreal Alouettes (4-6)

• Last Week: 6

The Alouettes stay at six as they return from a bye. But they now have a three-game homestand beginning with Ottawa, followed by the reeling Lions and turnover-prone Tiger-Cats. Montreal has a great chance at extending its winning streak to five straight.

Next Game: vs. Ottawa Redblacks (2-8)

7. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-8)

• Last Week: 7

It may be time to pull the plug on Dane Evans’ tenure as the team’s starting quarterback. In his return to the starting job, the QB threw three picks and lost a fumble as his Tiger-Cats got handled. Unfortunately for Hamilton, they don’t have many options behind him.

Next Game: vs. Toronto Argonauts (5-5)

8. Ottawa Redblacks (2-8)

• Last Week: 9

Go figure: we forked the Redblacks last week, and they went on to beat the Elks. They deserve to move up only because the Elks deserve to be last.

Next Game: at Montreal Alouettes (4-6)

9. Edmonton Elks (3-8)

• Last Week: 8

The Elks lost its fifth straight home game this season. This is also the 13th straight home game they’ve lost. The last time Edmonton won at home? October 12, 2019. This team is now just one home loss away from tying the all-time record set by the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1987-88.

Next Game: at Calgary Stampeders (6-4)
