UFL Player Salary Structure and How Much They Make

Some leagues opened the checkbooks in an attempt to challenge the NFL. That is not the model that the United Football League is utilizing.

The UFL player salary structure is nowhere near what the NFL offers. The players in the UFL are pursuing a professional career, which would ultimately mean a jump to the more established NFL.

The number of UFL players signing with NFL teams continues to increase. That doesn’t figure to change, given that many of the UFL stars have been in NFL training camps in the past.

Birmingham is joined by the Michigan Panthers, the DC Defenders, and the St. Louis Battlehawks, the four teams in the 2025 UFL playoffs. Those who want to bet on the UFL can check out the BetUS sportsbook.

The two conference championships will be played on June 8, and the winners will meet on June 14 in the UFL Championship Game. ABC will broadcast the 8 p.m. ET title game. As the playoffs approach, make sure to sign up and get the bonus.

A Look At The UFL and NFL Salary Breakdown

Show Me The Money

The minimum salary for a player in the NFL is $795,000. So, how much can a player in the UFL make? A player suiting up for all 10 regular-season games for his team can earn at least $62,2005. That is up from $55,000 during the 2024 season.

You will not see any bank-breaking deals like the ones that saw Hall of Fame quarterbacks Steve Young and Jim Kelly begin their professional careers in the USFL in the 1980s.

The minimum average UFL salary is set to jump to $64,000 for the 2026 season.

While NFL salaries are available through various online databases, the same is not true in the UFL.

UFL’s top salaries are not known. The belief is that prominent quarterbacks earn six-figure salaries. They are not on par with some of the salaries for top quarterbacks paid out by XFL teams in 2023.

The lure of dynamic quarterbacks is a key in every professional football league. Feel free to take a peek at the UFL betting rules.

Coaches Don’t Come Cheap

The UFL values the importance of high-profile head coaches. Mike Nolan, a former head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, highly successful Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, veteran college coach Skip Holtz (the son of coaching legend Lou Holtz), and former NFL tight end Anthony Becht are among the other UFL head coaches bringing in the money.

One reason the UFL can pay these coaches is a television deal that allows UFL games to air on Fox Sports and ESPN. That bodes well for the league’s future.

Quarterbacks Leading the Way

Jordan Ta’amu, one of the playoff-bound DC Defenders, was the XFL Most Valuable Player before the merger of that league with the USFL. Arlington quarterback Luis Perez and Birmingham’s Alex McGough also figure to be among the highest-paid UFL players.

The top nine players in terms of the most lucrative contracts in the NFL happen to be quarterbacks. It is likely a similar deal in the UFL, even if the numbers pale compared to those in the NFL.

Plenty to Play For

Bonuses are available, and game checks will be sent to the players in the 10 regular-season games, adding to the UFL salaries.

The Most Valuable Player in the UFL will receive $7,500. A $5,000 bonus is paid out to the Player of the Year, with those earning spots on the All-UFL team adding $2,500 to their bank account. The UFL Player of the Week is given $1,000.

Bonus money will also be paid out for those on the UFL championship team.
