Azerbaijan GP F1 Odds: Best Bets Between Top Two Teams
- The Azerbaijan Grand Prix comes down to two teams: McLaren and Ferrari
- Charles Leclerc looks to beat the F1 odds again as he is always a contender in Baku
- Our F1 expert picks predict another slight upset on the BetUS Sportsbook
The 2024 F1 season continues to be full of surprises as Charles Leclerc conquered Monza. While this is fun for the fans, it’s tricky for bettors. McLaren remains a favorite on our F1 betting lines. But despite having the superior car, the Papaya team has found ways not to win. McLaren has only won two of the last four races. We need to find better ways to bet here. Both McLaren and Leclerc are worth wagers.

F1 Azerbaijan GP Best Bets: McLaren or Leclerc?
Leclerc Is the Better Driver
McLaren is the prohibitive favorite to win the constructors’ title per the latest F1 odds. But we saw how they squandered a potential win at Monza. Lando Norris took pole position and the fastest lap but could not beat Leclerc. Ferrari’s one-stop strategy paid off big as Leclerc won his second season race.
Norris is now 1-of-4 when he secures pole position. He completed the “Grand Chelem” at Zandvoort. But doing that in Baku will prove tricky as this street circuit is one of the hardest. The track requires plenty of downforce from the cars similar to The Spa (Belgian Grand Prix).
Leclerc won pole position in that race though it was Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes (due to a disqualification) who won. Norris finished fifth while his teammate, Oscar Piastri was the runner-up (originally third before the DQ). The Ferrari man has finished on the podium in three straight races. He’s also just 24 points behind Norris for second in the standings.
The odds are at -225 for Leclerc to make it four straight top-three finishes. We’d have liked longer lines here. Still, he’s driven well at Baku and was on the podium in his last race here. He’s also worth betting to win pole position at +350 as he has done in the last three Azerbaijan GPs.
Bet on Pole Position Winner – Charles Leclerc (+350)
McLaren Still Dominant
We may have hitched our wagons to Leclerc, but we’re not discounting McLaren. They are still the team to beat. However, their “papaya rules” make us bearish on their odds to win, especially at -150. This puts a restriction on Norris and Piastri and they cannot get too aggressive or take chances for the sake of winning.
🚨 | Zak Brown says having two number 1 drivers is part of McLaren’s philosophy.
“We’ve seen it with Senna and Prost.” See his comments below:https://t.co/DPCxYA6aTn

Still, another double podium finish should be the minimum for McLaren. At -110, it’s a solid line. McLaren’s only competition here is Ferrari and we don’t see Carlos Sainz making it to the top three as he has one podium finish in his last eight races.
Bet on Both Cars Podium Finish – McLaren (-110)
And if McLaren does ease up on their “papaya rules” and direct Piastri to “support” Norris, we’d bet Norris more confidently. However, we’d also like a better line than +120 on Norris. Given his abilities and the best car he’s driving, two wins is just not enough. He finds ways not to win sometimes.
F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Betting Lines
“I think Ferrari this weekend were as competitive as us, at least with Leclerc, which for us is bad news,” Andre Stella, McLaren’s team principal told Formula 1 news outlets following the Italian Grand Prix. “It meant we couldn’t simply cruise in the race, we needed to deal with them, and they did a good job exploiting some of the difference.”
This may mean better upgrades for McLaren. They have the best car for Baku. But it comes down to which driver can race the circuit best and thus far, Leclerc has the experience edge over the Papaya pair.

The Best Formula 1 Bet This Weekend? Leclerc Makes It Two Straight
We’ll back Leclerc to win a consecutive race. This is something he has not done since 2019 but Baku is his type of circuit. He can win pole position and hold on to that lead with a one-stop strategy. Ferrari has quietly improved its decision-making while the car is also competitive with McLaren.
Bet on Who Will Win Azerbaijan GP – Charles Leclerc (+500)
