Summer ends at iconic Belgian oval
The end of summer break
Formula One’s summer break is a necessary part of the sport, teams ceasing operations for a 14-day period. This break has come to an end now, and the drivers and teams are preparing for the first race back at Spa in Belgium. Max Verstappen carries an 80-point lead into the back end of the season. Ferrari will have a lot of work to do if they expect to catch Red Bull.

Leclerc, Ferrari need to recoup
Ferrari’s season has been extremely hot and cold, starting off on a great note, 135 points in the first five races. Then, less than 200 points in the last eight, having fallen 97 points behind Red Bull in the constructor’s championship standings.
The problem seems to be the team’s decision-making. A few issues with the car, but Charles Leclerc and Carlos Saiz have generally been great. Ferrari’s team has made some questionable decisions, notably putting Leclerc on a three-stop strategy in Hungary, costing him a podium.
Ferrari is hoping to have ironed things out over the break, and will have to return with energy and focus if they want to cut into Red Bull’s lead. There’s no doubt about some great racing on the remainder of the schedule.
Red Bull chasing Constructors’ Championship
So, last season, Max Verstappen won his first-ever Drivers Championship, Red Bull’s first since 2013. Now, they are looking for their first Constructors Championship since ’13, and are well ahead of second-place Ferrari. The sportsbook odds for this race currently have Max Verstappen as a -120 favorite. BET US Sportsbook has Charles Leclerc as a +350 underdog.
It’s just how great Max and Red Bull have been this season. Max has won more races of any driver, leading the drivers championship by 80 points. He will look to extend that lead with a big victory in Belgium.
Ferrari vs Red Bull vs Mercedes Head-to-Head 2022
The third team sneaking up in the standings right now is Mercedes. A brutal start to the year, but Lewis Hamilton has five straight Podium finishes while looking for his first victory of the season. The past four races, Mercedes has 110 points to Ferrari’s 93. If Mercedes can continue this pace, Ferrari will drop to third place soon.
However, only Red Bull and Ferrari drivers have won races this year. Lewis Hamilton is currently a +500 underdog for this race if you bet online. Can Hamilton break through and win this season, or will he have to wait until 2023?
