Midfield Matchups to Make some Money
While everyone else is focused on the top of the grid, let’s take a peak at what matchups are going on further down the race standings. The two matchups and formula 1 betting lines I’m interested in are Ocon vs Alonso and Norris vs Ricciardo.
Ricciardo vs Norris Betting Matchup
This year Mclaren had a slow start, but Lando Norris has been driven great this year. Despite a bad first race, Norris has finished in the top ten in four out of six races this season. He’s also beaten Ricciardo in four of the five races that Norris has finished.
The Formula 1 betting odds have this matchup at -155 for Norris and +145 for Ricciardo. Both drivers have shown their skills in years past, but Norris seems to be driving better this season. I like Norris at -155 to finish ahead of Ricciardo as a Formula 1 betting pick.
Fernando Alonso vs Esteban Ocon Betting Matchup
Alpine’s two drivers, Esteban Ocon, and Fernando Alonso could not have more different careers. Alonso is a two-time Formula 1 world champion and has been racing for over twenty years in Formula 1. Ocon on the other hand is a young, relatively unproven driver who has only won one race in his entire career.
That being said, Ocon has outperformed Alonso by a mile this year. Ocon has finished top ten in every race but one this season and has beaten Alonso in every race. Ocon has shown he’s reliable and consistent this year, but despite that, the Formula 1 betting line for this matchup has both drivers at -110. I know Ocon at -110 over Alonso is an absolutely amazing bet.
Verstappen vs Leclerc Head to Head Results
This year Verstappen and Leclerc have been easily the best drivers so far. They are six points apart in the individual standings and have dominated races from start to finish through the first six races of the year.
So far this year Max Verstappen has won four out of six head-to-head matchups with Charles Leclerc. They are the only two drivers to have won a race this year, and the Formula 1 betting odds currently have Leclerc as a -130 favorite with Verstappen at +110 in the matchup.
Leclerc is looking to redeem himself after crashing from pole position in last year’s Grand Prix of Monaco. In fact, the Ferrari driver has failed to finish a race in his home country since joining F1. Monegasque fans will be looking to see Leclerc redeem himself this year.

Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco Outright Betting Prediction
Formula 1 betting picks:
Sergio Perez -110 over George Russell
Carlos Sainz -110 over Lewis Hamilton
The street circuit in Monaco favors cars that are fast through tight turns. This circuit doesn’t need top straight line speed as you won’t ever have enough space to use all of it. In this year’s matchup, that favors Ferrari. I expect Sainz to finish above Hamilton, as he has in every race that he’s finished.
This track also favors drivers who are very good at tire management, like Sergio Perez. ‘Checo’ is a phenomenal, experienced driver who knows how to maintain his tires. Not to mention the Red Bull has been significantly quicker than the Mercedes all season, and Perez has beaten Russell in every race that he’s finished this year.
