IndyCar Betting: GMR Grand Prix Betting Lines and Predictions

IndyCar returns to Indianapolis

IndyCar GMR Grand Prix Betting Odds

The IndyCar series is one of the best racing leagues in the world and Indianapolis will be playing host to the fifth race of the 2022 season. The race will be 85 laps around the 2 1/2-mile, 14-turn road course. The sportsbook has championship leader Alex Palou at +700 while Colton Herta is +550 and Josef Newgarden is +600.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, reports, and Motor Sports odds for The IndyCar. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Will Alex Palou Steal His First Victory of the Year?

Palou currently sits atop the IndyCar standings with 144 points, three ahead of Scott Mclaughlin. Palou has been great, finishing third, seventh, second, and third in the first four races. The IndyCar betting odds have Palou at +700, the third choice.

The question is will Palou power through and finish a race ahead of the field. He hasn’t finished with a pole position after qualifying but has still managed to squeeze more points out of his races than anyone else. If he can get a good start to this race he should cruise to a victory. I love Palou at +700 here.

Scott McLaughlin Sneakily cruising to the top.

McLaughlin is a New Zealander who has been racing in IndyCar for two full seasons and is making waves this year. He has three top-six finishes so far and has finished the last two races in the top two. Mclaughlin is +1000 to win, which feels like a free sprinkle for sure.

McLaughlin will have to battle with Josef Newgarden who has the most race wins of anyone this year (two). Newgarden led almost the entirety of the Grand Prix of Long Beach, so if he starts hot he has a great shot to win. There will be a ton of great battles in the race this weekend and I think McLaughlin and Newgarden have the ability to navigate the course well.

Who will steal the GMR Grand Prix?

Championship leader Palou (+700) has not won a race this year, nor has he finished qualifying with pole position. McLaughlin (1000) sits in second place after taking second and first in the last two races. Pato O’Ward (+800) has slowed after two good races to start the year, and he’ll be looking to bounce back. IndyCar GMR Grand Prix Betting Odds and Predictions

Palou is due for a win, the question is will it happen in Indianapolis. I don’t think it will as he’s yet to get a pole position start, but at +700 it may be worth a shot. Pato O’Ward hasn’t won since the first race of the year and I don’t think it will happen again this weekend. My favorite picks of the weekend are Scott Mclaughlin at +1000 and Josef Newgarden at +600.

Newgarden has the most wins this year and has already matched his win total from the 2021 season. He has something to prove after coming in second to Palou in the championship standings last season and I think he’ll be pressing to steal the lead after this fifth race. +600 on Newgarden feels generous and I’d bet him all the way down to +500.

McLaughlin is an even better bet than Newgarden in my opinion. While I love Newgarden’s driving ability, Mclaughlin has been incredible recently. At +1000 the kiwi driver is a great value bet and he’s finished first and second in the last two races. I’d be willing to bet Mclaughlin all the way down to +700 as I think he should win this race if he has a good qualifying session.
