Power, Newgarden in Tight Race Atop Standings
Two Races Remaining
The IndyCar season of 2022 has been absolutely spectacular to watch. There have been eight different race winners and seven drivers sit within 58 points of the championship lead.
With only two races remaining, anything could happen and any of those seven drivers could run away with the 2022 IndyCar Championship. According to the IndyCar betting odds, Josef Newgarden and Pato O’Ward are the favorites to win the Grand Prix of Portland at +500 each.
Let’s check the latest news, motorsports picks, stats, reports, and motorsports odds for Indycar. We’ve plenty of motorsports predictions for you to consider.
Will Power in Control
The 2022 IndyCar season has been highlighted by Will Power and his dominance. Although the Australian has only won a single race this year, his 11 top-10s and ten top-fives have kept him in the Championship lead for the majority of the season.
Power has been consistent, fast, and determined. He is looking for his 100th career podium in this race in Portland and is hoping to secure his second IndyCar championship.
Power hasn’t won a race since Detroit in June, which was his only victory this year.
He also hasn’t been on the podium in over a month, and he’ll really have to lock in and focus to make sure he holds off championship contender Newgarden. Newgarden is only three points behind Power in the standings and has been racing phenomenally in the last few races. Sportsbooks have Power at +1000 odds to win this race.
Newgarden Chasing Top Spot
Newgarden has been a force of nature in 2022, stringing together three wins in his last eight races.
He has shown a ton of heart, grit and determination and is only three points behind Power for the Championship lead. Newgarden has shown more consistency as the year has gone on and is getting closer and closer each week to passing Power in the standings.
In all likelihood, he’ll need at least one more win in the final two races to surpass Power, unless Power completely falls apart. While IndyCar betting lines favor Newgarden and O’Ward to win this race at +500, right behind are Scott Mclaughlin and Alex Palou at +700.
IndyCar 2022 Results and Statistics
Newgarden leads IndyCar with five race wins this season. Scott Dixon, Mclaughlin and O’Ward are the only other drivers to win more than one race this year, each of them having won twice. Colton Herta, Alexander Rossi, Marcus Ericsson and championship leader Will Power have all one win.

2022 IndyCar Grand Prix of Portland Prediction
My betting pick for this race is between Power and Newgarden. I love the value here on Power because he’s won this race in the past.
Las Vegas sportsbooks have Power as a +1000 underdog. Power has had a phenomenal year and he’ll need a win here to hold off top rival Newgarden.
Newgarden has also had a phenomenal 2022 season, winning five different races and sitting only three points behind Power. Newgarden is the safer bet. He’s shown that in difficult and tough races, he can pull out the victory.
That being said, Power has a ton of ability and I love the value of the IndyCar betting line of +1000.
