Title Up for Grabs
The 2022 IndyCar season has been spectacular, with eight different race winners and nine different pole sitters, and there are still five drivers eligible to win the IndyCar Series Championship.
Will Power sits in the lead with 523 points, followed by Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon, who sit tied in second with 503 points each. Finally, 2022 Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson is in fourth with 484 points, with last week’s race winner, Scott Mclaughlin, in fifth with 482 points.
Let’s see who can turn it up and win the 2022 IndyCar Series Championship.
Let’s check the latest news, motorsports picks, stats, reports and motorsports odds for Indycar Monterey Grand Prix. We’ve plenty of motorsports predictions for you to consider.
Power leads the Field
Power has had dominant performance after dominant performance this season. Despite only having one race win this season, Power has looked incredible in every race. He has only four finishes outside the top 10 and only one finish outside the top 15.
Power has finished on the podium in seven of his last 12 races and will be looking to get another podium this weekend to take away any chance of another driver surpassing him in the standings.
He also has a 20-point lead over his two closest competitors, but Newgarden has won five races this year. Power will have to make sure he has a great qualifying, or Newgarden may get a chance to steal the championship away from Power. Las Vegas sportsbooks are currently favoring Power at -200 odds to win the world championship.
Rest of Pack Follows
Truthfully, everyone is just trying to keep up with Power at this point. He is dominant and almost always in the top five, so Newgarden and Dixon, who are just 20 points behind, really need to have tremendous races if they are hoping to win the title. IndyCar betting odds favor Power to win both this race and the championship.
While Newgarden has five wins, the other second-place driver is Dixon, a legend of the sport. Dixon very recently surpassed Mario Andretti for the second-most wins in IndyCar history.
Dixon will be trying to claim his seventh IndyCar Series Championship. Dixon is widely regarded as one of the best drivers ever, behind all-time great A.J Foyt.
2022 IndyCar Season Results
This season has been absolutely spectacular, with a lot of different challenges for the drivers. Newgarden has the most individual wins while Power has relied on consistency. He is the only driver with more than 10 top-five finishes this season.
Six-time world champion Dixon has nine top-five finishes, the second most of any driver. IndyCar odds have Dixon as a heavy underdog this weekend.
Marcus Ericsson’s only win of the year came at the Indy 500, and he’s the only driver in the top five without a pole position this season.
The only other driver in the top 10 without a pole this year is last year’s champion, Alex Palou. All of these drivers will be competing for a win this weekend in Monterey.

IndyCar Monterey Grand Prix Race Prediction
My pick for the final race of the 2022 season is Newgarden. Newgarden has been my go-to IndyCar betting pick this year due to his tremendous amount of wins.
I’m not certain if he’ll be able to win the championship; that depends on how Power races. I am certain that Newgarden will have to win this race if he wants any hope of winning the championship. Newgarden also will be looking to make up for a weak result here last season.
I like Newgarden to win the race, and I also like the IndyCar odds that have him at +400 to win.
