Music City Grand Prix Returns
The race with the best name in IndyCar will be back this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee. Will the championship leader extend his lead, or will contenders rise from behind and chip into the lead? If you bet online, the current odds for this race favor Josef Newgarden and Will Power who open as +500 favorites.

Will Power Takes Championship Lead
Last weekend at the Gallagher Grand Prix in Indianapolis, Power finished in third place. This was eight spots ahead of then leader Marcus Ericsson, and now Power has stolen the Championship lead. Power sits 11 points ahead of Ericsson for the lead and has a great chance to extend that lead this weekend.
IndyCar odds for this race have Power as a +500 favorite with third place contender Josef Newgarden. Pato O’ward follows them as a +550 underdog, with Colton Herta and Alex Palou behind him at +600 and +800, respectively. Power is a common favorite due to his season-leading eight top-five finishes.
Power has a chance to further extend his newly acquired championship lead this weekend in Nashville. This will be only the second time this race has been held, so there will be plenty of opportunities for drivers to learn and improve throughout the weekend.
Rest of the Field Follows Power
Despite having the championship lead for a while, I regret to inform fans that I do not believe Marcus Ericsson will be winning the Championship this season. The former F1 driver shocked everyone by winning the Indy 500 this year, but only has four top-five finishes on the year.
Another contender following behind is Newgarden. I’m a big fan of his skillful and aggressive driving style, and the driver was born and raised in Nashville, so he may have some home-field advantage this weekend. It can be expected the Newgarden fans will be out in full force for his home race.
Finally, Pato O’Ward is another contender who lurks in the shadows behind Power’s championship lead. O’Ward had a tough race at the Gallagher Grand Prix after he spun out on the first lap. Hopefully O’Ward can have a recovery race in Nashville and bounce back with a big win. Las Vegas Odds have O’ward sitting at +550 for this race.
IndyCar Race Results
This IndyCar season has had many tight races this season, and eight drivers have won a race. Of those eight, three have won more than one, and those three drivers are Newgarden, Pato O’Ward, and Scott Mclaughlin.
None of the drivers in the field have more than two wins. Even the top two in the championship standings don’t have more than one win each. This race may break the tie, as Newgarden is the hometown favorite, and could win his third race of the season this weekend.

IndyCar’s 2022 Music City Grand Prix Prediction
The Music City Grand Prix is only in its second running ever, so it will be tough to tell who’s going to rise to the top. However, I have three predictions that I will narrow down to one betting pick. Those three drivers are O’Ward, Newgarden, and Scott Dixon.
O’Ward I expect to bounce back because of his brutal race last weekend when he spun out on lost position on the first lap of the race. O’Ward sits as online sports betting underdog at +550. The favorite in this race is hometown hero Newgarden, who is a slight +500 favorite in this race according to sportsbooks.
Dixon has a good chance to win this race. At +1000 there is a ton of value on this IndyCar betting underdog, and I expect Dixon to race well as he’s finished in the top ten in each of his last 5 races. He’s also finished in the top five in five of his last seven races.
