For the first time in 2025, the NASCAR Cup Series is going short-track racing when they head to Martinsville Raceway on Sunday for the Cook Out 400. Despite a disastrous last few weeks, Ryan Blaney has the best NASCAR odds to win the race at +400.

Let’s analyze Blaney’s chances as well as the other top contenders in the field with our NASCAR predictions for the week.
Top 3 Best Cook Out 400 Picks
1. Bet Hamlin, Not Blaney or Larson
Blaney rightfully headlines the Cook Out 400 NASCAR betting odds as he has been fantastic at Martinsville. He won here last fall to clinch a spot in the championship race. He also won in 2023 and has 10 top-10 finishes in 14-career starts. But it has been a struggle for Blaney, who looked like the car to beat at Homestead before his engine let go.
But Blaney will have competition. Unsurprisingly, Kyle Larson has been strong at Martinsville. He has four top-fives in his last five starts, including a win in 2022. His NASCAR odds to win this week sit at +500. Larson’s teammate, Chase Elliott, was excellent at the Virginia track last season, finishing second and third.
But I will pivot away from Chevrolets and Fords and pick a Toyota to win. And no, it’s not three-time winner Christopher Bell, who is a NASCAR futures co-favorite to win the championship.
Instead, I will go with Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin, who has not won in his home state since 2015. But he has been remarkably consistent with four top-fives in his last five starts. He has also been solid this year with four top-10s. I say he breaks through and makes NASCAR news with his first win of the season.

2. Bet Briscoe for Top-5 Finish
Chase Briscoe has had the tall task of replacing Martin Truex Jr. at Joe Gibbs Racing. It has not gone particularly great, though he does have two top-five finishes. But Briscoe has been really good at Martinsville, even in Stewart-Haas Racing equipment, with five top-10s in his last six starts., per NASCAR driver stats.
The upgrade in equipment and Gibbs’ propensity to run up front at Martinsville are the perfect combo for Briscoe. I don’t think he will win, but he could be in the mix at the end. I will go with the more conservative pick for a top-five at +200 odds as part of our NASCAR betting picks.
Bet This Top-5 Pick: Chase Briscoe +200
3. Bowman, Preece Headline Top-10 Values
I had a couple nice pulls last week, particularly Alex Bowman, who nearly won the race. Somehow, the NASCAR oddsmakers still give him plus-money for a top-10. That could be because he is not great at Martinsville, with one top-10 in his last five starts. But he has finished in the top-10 in five of six races in 2025 and I expect Hendrick to be near the front of the field.
How about Ryan Preece? He quietly found his way into the top-10 the last two weeks, following an underwhelming start to his RFK Racing tenure. Preece made his way through the ranks on short pavement tracks. While his numbers at Martinsville aren’t eye-popping, it’s clear his equipment was holding him back. We are in on him for this online bet at +110.
Bet These Top-10 Picks: Alex Bowman +120; Ryan Preece +110
