Daytona 500 Props Preview: Proceed with Caution

Get Creative With Picks for Great American Race

There Can Only Be One…

When doing any online sports betting on motorsports, we all know there can only be one winner from a large field. At times, NASCAR is as unpredictable of a series as imaginable, making picking an outright winner very difficult.

However, hope springs eternal, and opportunities emerge when you explore a little deeper under the surface. While you might not pick the winner of the Daytona 500 when betting online, a variety of Daytona 500 prop betting lines are available that give you better betting options and chances of winning.

Let’s check the latest NASCAR news, stats, injury reports, and NASCAR lines for Daytona 500. We’ve got plenty of NASCAR picks for you to consider.

Doubling Down

Since only one driver can capture the Daytona 500, and there are at least 10 viable options to win on Sunday, we’re a big fan of hedging your Daytona 500 winner bet by exploring the Double Chance to Win betting line. On this betting line, you have two drivers and you win if either one wins the Daytona 500.

Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott are three of the favorites to win the Daytona 500. They are featured in some combination with each other or a few other drivers in all 10 Double Chance to Win betting lines.

If you are favoring Larson but are pulling for Denny Hamlin, then you can pick the Larson-Hamlin combo at +400. If you think a Ford will win Daytona for a third straight year, your options are limited to Blaney and a variety of other drivers, or one line featuring defending Cup Series champion Joey Logano, who is set to start Daytona from third on the grid.

We’ve got two picks we are considering doubling down with Larson/Logano (+450) or Blaney/Hamlin (+500).

Cracking the Top Ten

If you are looking at NASCAR odds for this weekend or regularly bet on motorsports, you know there is real value in picking drivers to finish in the top five or 10 in any race. We’ve picked five drivers from the field we think are going to finish the Daytona 500 in the top 10:

Driver (Team-Manufacturer) Odds to Finish in the Top 10
Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsport-Chevrolet) Even
Austin Cindric (Team Penske-Ford) +125
Alex Bowman (Hendrick Motorsports-Chevrolet) +125
Bubba Wallace (23XI Racing-Toyota) Even
Joey Logano (Team Penske-Ford) -120

Caution!

According to racing-reference.info, there were an average of 8.8 caution flags at a typical Daytona race from 2017-2022. There were seven caution flags and one red flag in 2022.

One of our favorite betting lines in any sport is the totals or over/under line. For the Daytona 500, we like the over/underline for how many caution flags there will be in the race. The total caution flags number is set to 7.5, with the over at -165 odds while the under is listed at -120.

We’re following the trends and expect another Sunday of chaos at Daytona. We’re taking the over 7.5 caution flags.

Basketball Royalty Winning Daytona?

The greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, and his 23XI racing outfit will have three rides in the Daytona 500: Bubba Wallace (starting 15th), Tyler Reddick (starting 26th), and ultimate longshot Travis Pastrana, who is fulfilling a dream and racing at Daytona.

Wallace is listed at +1600 to win the Daytona 500, Reddick is listed at +2000 while Pastrana has the longest odds in the field at +25000. This prop bet line requires a simple yes or no answer: Will a Michael Jordan team car win the Daytona 500?

While the odds for this line haven’t been finalized as of publication, the answer is no, even though Wallace finished second in the 2022 Daytona 500.
