3 Predictions for Go Bowling at The Glen

1. Back Reddick Over Betting Favorites Larson, Byron

Atlanta was a disaster for Kyle Larson, crashing early and only earning one point last week. While he still sits 15 points above the playoff cutline, a strong finish at the Glen would surely help. And when Larson is good on road courses, he is good. He won at Sonoma earlier in the summer and has won two of the last three races at the Glen.

Byron won this race a year ago and has been terrific at road courses of late. After winning at the Glen, he came home runner-up at the Charlotte Roval before winning at COTA earlier this year. Unlike Larson, he sits more comfortably above the playoff cutline.

Another driver whose day at Atlanta was as disastrous as Larson’s is Denny Hamlin. He rode around the back to avoid wrecks, collecting zero stage points, and proceeded to get caught in a wreck and finish outside the top-20. While is above the cutline, it is by a mere two points.

Once a threat at road courses, Hamlin has only one top-10 in his last 13 starts. However, that second came at the Glen last season, and in his last six Glen starts, he has four top-fives. Hamlin’s odds to punch his ticket to the round of 12 are an appealing +2200. While he is not our choice to win in NASCAR picks, a low-stakes wager makes sense here.

And now we get to Tyler Reddick, whose impressive stretch continued last week, surviving the barrage of crashes to finish sixth. He has been formidable at road courses, with five straight top-10s. But he hasn’t necessarily been contending for wins, not finishing better than fourth.

Still, Reddick still has three career wins at road courses and we are willing to bet he gets his fourth at +750 NASCAR betting odds. He is still red-hot and a win would give him momentum toward his first career championship, where his series odds sit at +650.

NASCAR Pick: Tyler Reddick +750 to win the Go Bowling at The Glen.

2. Fade SVG, Montoya; Bet On Allmendinger

The name that will surely grab the headlines this week is Shane van Gisbergen. It was announced in August that he would drive for Team Trackhouse full-time in the Cup Series in 2025. While experiencing growing pains on ovals, SVG has absolutely dominated road courses in the Xfinity Series this year.

He won at Sonoma, Portland and the Chicago Street Course while being wrecked from the lead late at COTA. But his fortunes in the Cup Series have been nearly as good. He won stage one at Chicago and looked like the car to beat before being taken out as a bystander in a crash. His only other road course start in 2024 was a disappointing 20th-place finish at COTA.

His dominance in the Xfinity Series and his 2023 Chicago win are why his online betting odds sit at +650, but we will go against the grain and fade the New Zealander entirely. Outside of Chicago, he has not looked like the sure thing he has been made out to be.

Longtime NASCAR fans were thrilled to see the shocking return of Juan Pablo Montoya to the Cup Series. The former F1 Grand Prix winner and seven-year Cup Series veteran will drive a third car for 23XI Racing, marking his first start since 2014. While a great story, his odds are far too overzealous.

Montoya has won twice on road courses in the Cup Series, but he has never driven the NextGen car, which has proven difficult for other highly decorated drivers such as Jenson Button and Kamui Kobayashi. While we are rooting for a strong run, we won’t put any money behind it.

A non-Cup Series regular we will back is AJ Allmendinger. After winning in Charlotte last year, he has finished sixth in both road courses he has run in Cup this season. While his -140 top-10 odds aren’t particularly appealing, we are confident that the Dinger will bring home yet another solid course finish.

NASCAR Top-10 Pick: AJ Allmendinger -140

3. Bowman, Buescher Great Top-10 Value Bets

While not as unpredictable as superspeedways, road courses pose a great opportunity for those who might not contend on a weekly basis to have a strong finish. The NASCAR oddsmakers have given us plenty of great top-10 values for the week. We start with our perpetual top-10 favorite, Alex Bowman.

Often overlooked by his Hendrick teammates, Bowman has been solid at road courses. While not technically a road course, he won at the Chicago Street Course earlier this year and has finished in the top-10 four of his last seven starts on traditional road courses. His +220 odds make this all the more appealing.

Someone with even more surprising odds is Chris Buescher. In his last 12 road course starts, he has 11 top-10s, with the only exception being an 11th-place finish at the Indianapolis Road Course last season. We believe Buescher will make it four-for-four on road course top-10s this week, doing so at an incredibly appealing +115 odds. And while Michael McDowell has been the cream of the crop for Ford at road courses, betting on Buescher to carry the torch for the organization at +450 isn’t a bad NASCAR prop bet.

Daniel Suarez almost pulled off another shocking win at Atlanta last week. He settled for second and is a comfortable 22 points above the playoff cutline. While he seems to find trouble on road courses, he has been rather consistent at Watkins Glen, scoring three top-fives in his last six starts. While we aren’t as confident as we are in Bowman and Buescher, we think taking a shot at his +170 odds is a worthwhile wager.
